The BRTC Western Operations is operated by Sandia National Laboratories in technical partnerships with the Naval Space and Warfare Systems Center, San Diego through Interagency Agreements with the USDOE/NNSA and the Department of the Navy as well as a Cooperative Agreement with Sheriffs’
o Sandia project through (IAA 2004-IJ-R-044) with the USDOJ National Institute of Justice (Office of Science and Technology)
o PURPOSE OF PROJECT: Support the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (NLECTC) system.
o The “system” is established in statute and enables NIJ Science and Technology program to carry out its own statutory mission that includes research and development work as well as technology assistance in support of all elements of the criminal justice community.
o The BRTC focuses on State and local law enforcement operating in U.S. “border region” – principally SW Border…also Pacific and Inland NW…and elsewhere along the northern border…
