If you are pursuing certification as a Catechist (Early Childhood through Adults), Youth Ministry and Confirmation Team Member, Initiation Team Member, or Liturgical Minister this course will fulfill the basic requirements of the Theological Phase toward certification. Catechists will need to complete the Specialization and Practicum Phase for complete certification.
These sessions explore the language we use in our Catholic Christian tradition to speak of God, our experiences of God and who God is for us as a people of faith. We trace the Church’s understanding of God’s self-revelation, and the fulfillment of that revelation in the person of Jesus Christ as we come to know him in the Sacred Scriptures. We also look at the foundational themes in Catholic morality, the development of conscience, and the social justice tradition of the Church as well as our selfunderstanding as Church, our ways
of celebrating together God’s presence among us, and the expressions we give to these realities sacramentally.
