July-September 2013
The Poplar Bluff Municipal Library was a recipient of a “Summer Reading Program
Collection Development Grant “ from LSTA in the amount of $3,766 in May 2013.
The grant provides funding for purchasing of books supporting our 2013 Summer
Reading Program.

On May 7th, funds from the Missouri Athletes & Entertainers (A&E) tax were distributed to libraries across the state.
So what exactly is A&E?
The Non-Resident Professional Athletes and Entertainers Tax (A&E Tax) is a tax on the earnings of professional athletes and entertainers when playing or performing in the State of Missouri. It is collect-ed by the State of Missouri and, by Statute, is to be distributed among the following five groups: Missouri State Library Networking Fund (10%), Missouri Humanities Council Trust Fund (10%); Missouri Public Television Broadcasting Corporation Special Fund (10%); Missouri Historic Preservation Revolving Fund (10%) and the Missouri Arts Council Trust Fund (60%).
What can this money be used for?
A&E funds may be expended for approved library materials, such as books, audio materials, e-books and, if the content is owned by the library, e-audio. Ineligible materials include elec-tronic databases and other subscription content.
The burning question is what are we going to use it on, right?

Music on the Lawn
Music on the Lawn has been a new

musicians. The concerts have been
held in the beautiful Sensory Gar-
den that is now in full bloom and
over flowing with goodies. The
last concert is scheduled to be held
on July 12,2013 at 5:00 p.m. with
Guitarist, Tori Travers. Come rain
