Eventbrite is an event management website that allows users to promote and sell tickets to their local events, but more importantly, it is an easy way to discover great events in your community or surrounding communities. Events in many categories are listed, including senior and family events, music and performing arts, hobbies and classes, health and wellness, and food and drink. Some of these events require reservations and tickets, but many of them are free. Simply go to Eventbrite.com and create a free account. Choose your community, narrow by date or category, or simply search everything coming up in, lets’ say Canton. What you’ll get is a wide listing of upcoming events in your area, with a full description and pricing info. If a ticket or reservation is required, you can often make the purchase right from the website. With Eventbrite you can find an art festival, a free concert, or a yoga class. Events range from beer tastings and class reunions to poker runs and cooking classes. There are also plenty of business and networking events for those of you who just can’t get enough of work! Whether you’re looking for a senior event, singles, couples, or family event, you’ll likely find something to do this weekend, next weekend, or next month on Eventbrite. Are you always looking for something fun to do or someplace new to go? Check out the listings on Eventbrite.com! Oh Baby, Baby If you think the center is missing a couple of familiar faces lately, you’d be right, and it’s because August was a boomin’ month at the Stow center – a BABY boomin’ month, that is! Congratulations to our Program Director, Troy Cochran, and to center nurse, Nelida Kimball, who each welcomed baby girls into their families a couple of weeks ago, just a few days apart! Each of them is out for a few weeks to care for their new daughters but will soon be back at work caring for our participants – and possibly showing off a picture or two of their brand new little girls!

Easy as Pie Blueberry Pie Fresh fruit is often on sale all summer long, and what could be better than using it to make some delicious pies? With a little help from frozen or refrigerated pie crusts, it takes almost no time at all to bake up a mouth-watering blueberry pie at a relatively low cost. Top off that warm pie with some vanilla ice cream for a wonderful mid-week dessert!
Ingredients: 1 pkg of (2) refrigerated pie crusts 3/4 cup white sugar 2 Tablespoons cornstarch or all-purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 4 - 5 cups fresh blueberries 1 Tablespoon butter
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
▪ Rinse blueberries and remove any bad ones and stems. Place in medium mixing bowl. ▪ Mix together sugar, cornstarch (or flour), salt, and cinnamon. ▪ Sprinkle over blueberries and toss gently to coat. ▪ Line pie dish with one crust, then pour berry mixture into the crust. ▪ Dot with butter. ▪ Cover with remaining pie crust. Crimp and flute edges of crust. ▪ Cut 5-6 slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape. ▪ Bake on lower shelf of oven for about 50 minutes, or until crust is golden brown. ▪ Allow to cool at least 30 minutes before serving to allow juices to thicken. Top with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired. YUMMY!
