MAYOR'S MESSAGE

Stay Connected!

As Thanksgiving Day approaches, we have the opportunity to share our gratitude toward the many accomplishments

we’ve made this year. There is so much to be thankful for, and I want to share a few things I am thankful for as I reflect

on the City of Eastvale.

I am thankful that Eastvale is a great community to live, work, and play in. We have amazing residents who take pride in

this City, are active members of the community, and help those in need. I am thankful that we have yet again been

recognized as one of the safest cities to live in. This year, Eastvale was ranked the 12th safest city in California by

SafeWise, and ranked in the top 25th percentile of safest cities in the United States by Safe Home. Thank you to the

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and Cal-Fire for keeping us safe and protecting our city.

I am grateful for the many additions to public safety we’ve seen come to fruition in Eastvale that have contributed to

this safe and successful year. Some of these additions include our second motorcycle officer, Corporal Lionel Murphy, and

the 10 additional hours of patrol the City has gained. This year we have also added Paramedic Sqaud 27 to the

community, which will result in a quicker response time to critical incidents and medical emergencies. I am truly grateful

these safety resources have been added to Eastvale.

We have a great City staff that is truly here to assist our residents and businesses. They are here to help with anything

from processing passports, to getting plans approved for room additions and tenant improvements, to helping to keep

our streets and communities clean. We have outstanding leadership that has really stepped up and played a vital role in

elevating Eastvale.

Recently, Eastvale has elevated its dining experience by bringing two new restaurants to Hamner Place, Eastvale’s newest Shop-Dine-Stay destination which broke

ground in July, 2019. Here our community will enjoy Heroes Restaurant & Brewery, and Tony’s Chop House by the Meat Cellar. We are also excited to elevate our

nightlife with the addition of Staybridge Suites, a 4.5 star hotel and the first rooftop bar in the Inland Empire. We anticipate these additions to open their doors in

the later part of 2020. The Station at Eastvale will also be adding new restaurants. Stay connected with us as we announce more exciting news regarding dining

and entertainment experiences in Eastvale.

With the holidays right around the corner, we will see an increase in traffic in the area. I am thankful for the Limonite / I-15 freeway Interchange completion. We

will see this open shortly and be fully functional for our region. This will ease the impact of the traffic and allow drivers to come and go from Eastvale easier. The

overall improvements from this project will include new 8-lane overcrossing, 3 through lanes in each direction between Hamner Avenue and Wineville Avenue. The

project will also consist of new safety features such as added bike lanes to the overpass.

At this time of year, let us look around for the things we are most grateful for. Look for opportunities to express your gratitude. Look for opportunities to help

others appreciate the beauty around them. We have a great city, and there is a lot to be grateful for here in Eastvale. Thank you for all you do for our community

and for being part of what makes Eastvale an amazing place to live, work, and play in!

Team Eastvale has done an excellent job in attracting new businesses to the City. We have celebrated many Grand Openings and Ribbon Cuttings this year. Some

of the new businesses that have opened in Eastvale this year include In-N-Out Burger, Starbucks, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Café Rio, MOD Pizza, All Magic Paint &

Body Collision Centers Express, Quick Quack Car Wash, America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses, Bright Now! Dental, Which Wich Superior Sandwiches, and Jono’s

Simple Japanese Restaurant; with many more in the works.

Mayor Todd Rigby

Different than a P.O. Box, deliv-ery services are setting up tempo-rary delivery points for you to have your packages delivered to. You can then pick up your packages on your way home from work. Amazon Locker and UPS’ Access Point Net-work provide those areas in local grocery stores, convenience stores, storefronts and more.

3. USE A TEMPORARY PO BOXMany delivery services such as

UPS or FedEx will not deliver to a traditional P.O. Box address, but will deliver to a street address that just happens to be in a Postal Delivery Service Office. Many of those offic-es will even call you when you have a package arrives, and take a photo of it for you to see ahead of time. The UPS Store has this service, as well as many privately owned com-panies. Check your local listings to find one a location near you, then rent the P. O. Box through the sea-son. Be mindful of contract times and fees.

4. REQUEST A RE-ROUTE OR RE-DELIVERY

You can request that a package be held at the delivery facility of your deliverer, rerouted to another location, or delivered on another

day.• Call UPS or FedEx once

you have a tracking number from the company you’ve purchased from, and have UPS or FedEx hold the package at their facility for pick-up later.

• Use FedEx’s Delivery Manager, and UPS My Choice, pre-mium memberships, which allows you more choices in re-delivery.

5. USE A NEIGHBOR’S HOUSEKeeping your packages safe

during the day is hard if you’re working all the time, but you can find a neighbor who may be will-ing to accept deliveries for you. Or, if you’re the entrepreneurial type, start a service for a small fee for friends and family. You can become your own Amazon Locker!

6. USE A WIRELESS HOME MONITORING SYSTEM

Use a wireless door monitor, such as Ring, that allows you to see your porch. You’ll know when packages are delivered, and will be able to see visitors, even when not at home. It works through a wi-fi-en-abled camera at your door and an app on your phone. You can set off alarms for snoopers, as well as ask questions to those approaching.

7. REQUEST A SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION

Requesting a signature delivery is a little harder in this day of order and drop, but you may be able to call the delivery service to request a required signature for a package using the tracking number. This insures that the package isn’t just dumped. Packages sent through USPS have the option for a small fee.

8. REQUEST A KNOCKOur UPS delivery folks are hit

and miss with this quick conve-nience. It is helpful to hear that a package has been delivered, even when you’re home, so that you can pick it up, instead of it sitting outside. So request it in the notes on your order form, call your deliv-ery service with tracking number and put that request in, etc. You are not going to be guaranteed a knock, but it is a note that will be on the delivery for the carrier.

9. CREATE A DELIVERY CORNER

You may be able to hide small-er package deliveries behind planters or decorations on your porch. This is not a guarantee that a delivery person will actual-ly put a package there, but many try to make sure that packages are put in places that don’t draw attention. There is also the Pack-age Guard, a Wi-Fi-enabled de-vice that alerts you, through an app, when a package has been delivered to your house, and sets off a loud alarm if anyone unau-thorized tries to steal the pack-age. You can program it, to allow a neighbor to pick it up for you, but unauthorized ‘pick ups’ will be alarmed.

10. GIVE THEM A VIRTUAL KEY

Amazon Key is a new program that puts a keypad lock on your door that is accessible to any-one you give the code to. You

get notifications on your phone app that a service has used the lock. Amazon deliverers place your package just inside the door, are recorded on video, and you receive notification. You can also use the service to allow cleaners, dog walkers, etc., into your home with the same service. It’s $250 to begin the service, Amazon in-stalls for you, and it gives you an option for safe package delivery if you have concerns about your package, your neighborhood, and all other options have been ex-hausted.

erage bird lays one egg about every 26 hours, that equals a lot of chickens at the Voortman ranch!

Did you know that you can tell how fresh an egg is by how high the yolk stands up in the frying pan after you crack it? Voort-man’s will have your over-eas-ies standing tall. Their fresh eggs are the highest in quality, with dark, nutrient-dense yolks. You will immediately notice a difference in your cooking and baking.

Have you ever wondered how long the eggs in the gro-cery stores have actually been sitting around? Despite the use-by date, there is really no way to know how long ago they were produced. With Voort-man’s, the eggs are selected daily, on site, and readied for you in their store.

Third-generation egg ranch-er, Eddie Voortman, says, “We are a local, family-owned busi-ness that provides fresh, quality products to the public.”

Customers of Voortman’s rave about their all natural, cage free eggs, touting the fresh-ness, and great pricing. One customer said, “They make the fluffiest scrambled eggs!”

The eggs come in all sizes and colors, depending on your needs. Whatever you choose, you will not be disappointed.

Voortman’s is centrally locat-ed just minutes from Chino at 13960 Grove Avenue in Ontario (just north of Edison). You can reach Voortman’s at (909) 465-1319; and Like them on Face-book at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Voortmans-Egg-Ranch.

Autism Mom: PatienceBy Melody Kraemer

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

Galatians 6:9 (NIV)Patience is “the capacity to

accept or tolerate delay, trou-ble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.”

Sometimes that is not easy to do. We were out at Tom’s Farms in Corona the other morning. As the day continued on it was getting hotter and

busier. My youngest was getting

overwhelmed, and we knew we had to leave soon. He had already thrown himself on the floor more than once being over stimulated.

While getting into the car, my oldest was complaining he didn’t like his ice cream cookie sandwich we just bought him.

My youngest was whining about his push-up. He man-aged to push it up and some-how it ended up in the back behind him plus all over him. The end of this push up had a whistle, and he was whistling as loud as he could.

While cleaning up my son I was at my wit’s end. Feeling frustrated, a vehicle pulled up

and asked “are you leaving,” I looked up, ice cream all over my hands and washing off my child I yelled “NO”. As soon as I said it, I knew I was being rude. I looked around for that car to apologize but couldn’t find it.

My heart was hurting, not only from being distressed and snapping at strangers, but for losing my patience with my boys. It’s not always easy but I have to remember to just breath.

Cleaning Technician. This allowed him to be certified to clean HVAC Systems us-ing the Negative Air Flow Process and Air Duct De-contamination. In 2002, he went to Dallas Fort Worth to be certified by Roto-Brush International for the Roto Brush Process and the Con-tact Agitation. In addition, Blue also said they received a few national certifications for Commercial and Res-idential Air Duct Cleaning and Decontamination.

“In 2015, I joined the NCSGA National Chimney Sweep Guild of America, and CSIA Chimney Sweep Institute of America,” said Blue. This is where he re-ceived another National Certification called a C-DET Certified Dry Exhaust Tech-nician.

Blue and his company are more than qualified to clean your dryer vents and HVAC ducting. However, what makes them a quality company is that they love to get up in the morning and do their job. “I do what I do be-cause I love the challenge of waking up every-morning traveling to the South Bay, I.E., South and North Or-ange County, or wherever the job leads me to perform quality work,” said Blue.

Dryer Vent Cleaning Company has three offices located in Corona, Hunting-ton Beach and Hawthorne. Call 562-441-4111 to sched-ule an appointment today or visit their website at hbair-duct.com. They also offer discounts to Military (past and present), Educators, First Responders (Firefight-ers, Police Officers, EMT), and seniors.

Time to clean your vents before a fire breaks out

However, Corona Dry-er Vent Cleaning can help! They are simply the best at cleaning, repairing, replac-ing and rerouting dryer vent lines. They can also do the same for your HVAC duct-ing.

Dryer Vent Cleaning has been family owned and op-erated since 1982. “We are the little company who cov-ers a very large area,” said Blue. “We believe in family, we love God, and we value our community.”

They are the champions in their industry because they offer “upfront pricing and deliver only quality service,” said Blue.

Blue has been in the clean-ing industry since 1982. He found a love for the indus-try right out of high school. Blue received his first IICRC certification in 1982 where he became an IICRC Carpet Cleaning Technician. From then on, he never looked back. Over the years, the certifications started adding up. A few of his first titles and certifications include Upholstery Cleaning Tech-nician, Drapery Cleaning Technician, Stone and Tile Certification, and Pet Odor Removal Certification. “By 1999, I was certified to do crime scene clean up, flood damages, and so much more.”

In 2000, Blue started mov-ing away from carpet, uphol-stery and drapery cleaning and soon began air duct and dryer vents cleaning jobs. Blue received a certification from Air-Care of Nevada as an Air System Handler

Being Diabetic: Meds vs Diet

12269 Limonite Ave, Eastvale, CA 91752 (951) 727-0047 (Near Best Buy, Kohls. and Edwards Theatre)

Think of this, if we had an intolerance or allergy to shell-fish that was going to prog-ress over time and lead to our death if we continued to eat it and all we needed to do was just stop eating shellfish. But instead we took a medi-cation that was not going to work long term and would still lead to death from this condi-tion all just to be able to con-tinue to eat that same food. Would you still do it? This scenario doesn’t make any sense, I believe it is a terri-ble approach to treating this health condition. We have to remember that our medical system is not designed to help restore ones health and lose dependency of prescrip-tion medication. It is designed to keep life long custom-er who will remain sick and dependent on medications making the pharmaceutical companies tons of money. In the 1980’s the Food & Drug Administration established a food pyramid and carb based diet, then heavily promoted it to us though savvy marketing campaigns as the healthi-est way to eat. They knew it would make them a lot of money. Since we’ve been fol-lowing their high carb low fat guidelines we have become a nation of sick overweight people. These dietary guide-lines have created an epi-demic of diabetes and heart disease among many other conditions in adults and in our children.

Once a person becomes diabetic they’re put on a glu-cose lowering medication that requires a person to eat sugar and carbs to keep glu-cose levels up otherwise they will drop dangerously low. This keeps the patient in the never ending cycle of eating sugar and carbs to spike their glucose and then needing the medication to bring it back down and then again needing to eat the sugar and carbs to

bring the glucose backup and then again the insulin to bring it down and round and round we go. The cycle needs to be broken in order to get out of this trap. It can be done safe-ly with an experienced health practitioner and good com-munication with your doctor to have your medication dos-age adjusted accordingly to match the new lower blood sugar readings after imple-mentation of a low carb diet. This way of eating is extreme-ly effective and can work very quickly to lower blood sugar, so if you maintain the same dosage amount of medica-tion that you were taking while your diet was heavier in carbs it can lower your glu-cose too much and that must be carefully avoided.

So I went on to incorporate a ketogenic diet and low carb way of eating. My new diet consisted of higher amounts of healthy fats, plenty of non starchy vegetables, moder-ate protein and low carb in-take. This way of eating com-pletely changed my health and life. I am no longer pre-di-abetic, I consistently main-tain non diabetic glucose readings, my insulin numbers have significantly reduced, my cholesterol and triglycer-ide reading improved, my hormones balanced out, my menstrual symptoms have become much easier to man-age. I can finally maintain a healthy weight for my frame, my IBS gut issues have be-come much more manage-able, my energy and mental

health is better than ever. All this by just removing sugar and carbs from my diet, the food group with the least amount of nutritional value. I essentially used food as my medicine. The right foods can heal our body and provide it with the nutrients and ener-gy to thrive. The wrong foods can make us sick and can be killing us slowly.

The main point I want to make is that we should not be waiting until we get the full blown diabetes diagnosis, nor should we wait until we are insulin resistant either. We should all be eating a

lower carb diet starting from childhood so that we have a better chance at never even developing insulin resistance to begin with. Let’s change the relationship we have with food, let’s stop raising children to eat so much of a known addictive substance and let’s stop doing it our-selves so we can lead by ex-ample. When we know better we should all do better!

My Premium Low Carb Dessert Bakery is dedicated to all the people who have di-etary restrictions from eating sugar, grains, gluten, artificial ingredients, or for those who

just love to eat real CLEAN nutrient rich foods. All of my desserts are keto diet friendly and perfect for anyone with diabetes, insulin resistance, inflammatory conditions or any other sugar related health condition. It’s an hon-or to be able to provide the finest handcrafted desserts that will not compromise one’s health or contribute to all the sugar related diseases we are plagued with as a na-tion.
