1: set using the following entry in the /etc/sysctl.conf file: kernel.sem = 256 32000 100 1422: On the server running the EBS Database, this kernel parameter must be the lesser of half the size of the physicalmemory (in bytes) and 42949672953: values recommended for the local port range may need to be adjusted according to the specific needs of theuser's environment in order to avoid port conflicts.4: The listed value is the minimum requirement - we recommend an actual setting that is at least equal to the sumof all the SGAs on the system, divided by the page size.

On SUSE Linux Enterprise Server version 10 and 11, ensure that you set the following kernel parameter to the gidof the group used as the dba group. For example, on a system using a group named dba with the dba:!:104:oracleentry in the /etc/group file, the hugetlb_shm_group kernel parameter should be set to the following value:

vm.hugetlb_shm_group = 104

Domain Name System (DNS) Resolver Parameters

Two Domain Name System (DNS) resolver parameters (timeout and attempts) are set by default to low valueswhen the operating system is installed. These low values may cause attempted network connections to an Oracledatabase to fail. If this happens, add or update the following entries to these minimum settings in the/etc/resolv.conf file on each server node:

options attempts:5options timeout:15

Verifying Host Names

Use the following to verify host name settings:

For Oracle Linux 4, 5 and 6, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, 5 and 6:

1. Verify that the /etc/hosts file is formatted as follows:

Page 10: OeBS Install Requiment

2. Verify that the /etc/sysconfig/network file is formatted as follows:

HOSTNAME=[node_name].[domain_name]

3. If the /etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default/network file exists, remove it.

4. If you changed any files in the previous steps, restart the system.

For SUSE Linux SLES 10 and 11:

1. Verify that the /etc/hosts file is formatted as follows:

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost[ip_address] [node_name].[domain_name] [node_name]

2. If you changed any files in the previous step, restart the system.

Modifying the Number of Open File Descriptors

Open the /etc/security/limits.conf file and change the existing values for "hard" and "soft" parameters as follows.Restart the system after making changes.

Note: If the current value for any parameter is higher than the value listed in this document, then do notchange the value of that parameter.

OS Library Patch for Oracle HTTP Server (on Oracle Linux 5, RHEL 5, Oracle Linux 6 and RHEL 6only)

Download and apply the patch 6078836 from My Oracle Support to fix an issue with the Oracle HTTP Server(missing libdb.so.2) bundled with the E-Business Suite technology stack. Note that this patch (which includes a required operating system library) must be applied before installing Oracle E-Business Suite.

Link to Motif library in Oracle Application Server 10.1.2 (on Oracle Linux 5, RHEL 5, OracleLinux 6 and RHEL 6 only)

Perform the following command (as root on your system) to update a required link to a Motif library prior torelinking or patching the 10.1.2 Application Server Oracle Home:

# unlink /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6

Page 11: OeBS Install Requiment

12.07.13 Document Display

https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/ui/km/SearchDocDisplay.jspx?_adf.ctrl-state=164h8gkip0_145 11/18

# ln s /usr/X11R6/lib/libXtst.so.6.1 /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6

Without this updated link, you may see the following errors during a relink of the 10.1.2 Oracle Home:

/usr/lib/libXtst.so.6: undefined reference to __stack_chk_fail@GLIBC_2.4'/usr/lib/libXtst.so.6: undefined reference to __fprintf_chk@GLIBC_2.3.4'/usr/lib/libXtst.so.6: undefined reference to __sprintf_chk@GLIBC_2.3.4'

Since the ldconfig command overrides this link, the above link command (ln) will have to be re-issued after runningthe ldconfig command.

Before Installing or Upgrading

If the Release 12.1.1 installation or upgrade is performed with the Rapid Install wizard (either a new R12installation or upgrade from 11i to R12), ensure you have the latest Rapid Install patch as described in OracleApplications Release Notes, Release 12.1.1 (My Oracle Support Document 798258.1) before you begin yourinstallation or upgrade.

Complete all operating system requirements, software requirements, and other requirements before installing orupgrading Oracle E-Business Suite.

Upgrade Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server (Oracle Linux 6, RHEL 6 and SLES 11only)

Customers who are cloning to the above operating systems must first upgrade the Oracle Database to 11gR2(11.2.0.3 or higher) and Oracle Application Server 10gR3 to 10.1.3.5 on the source 12.1.1 system using therespective documents:

Interoperability Notes Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0) (MyOracle Support Note 1058763.1)Upgrading to the Latest OracleAS 10g 10.1.3.x Patch Set in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (My OracleSupport Note 454811.1)

Customers who are installing the E-Business Suite on these operating systems using Rapid Install must upgradethese technology components after the installation of EBS 12.1.

OPMN port conflict

Attention: By default, the OPMN service of the Application Server technology stack listens on port 6000 whenstarted up during Rapid Install. This can conflict with the X11 port used for the graphics console on Linuxservers and prevent Rapid Install from completing.

To address this issue, perform the following steps before installing or upgrading:

Check if the port 6000 is being used ("netstat -a | grep 6000")If so, you should disable the graphics console login process on the Linux server. This can be accomplished bylogging in as root and issuing the following commands:

Find the process that uses port 6000 by the command "lsof -i TCP:6000".Use "kill -9" to abort the process found in the previous stepConfirm that nothing is listening at port 6000 ("netstat -a | grep 6000")Modify /etc/inittab by changing "id:5:initdefault:" to "id:3:initdefault:"Run "/sbin/init 3" to restart dtlogin

Installing or Upgrading

Perform the installation or upgrade following the documentation (Oracle E-Business Suite Installation Guide: UsingRapid Install, Oracle E-Business Suite Upgrade Guide: Release 11i to Release 12.1.1 or Oracle E-Business SuiteRelease 12.1.1 Maintenance Pack instructions) relevant to the specific installation or upgrade scenario describedabove.

After Installing or Upgrading

Perform the following steps after installing or upgrading to Release 12.1.1 and before allowing users to access thesystem.

Patch AS 10g (10.1.2 and 10.1.3) Oracle Homes (Oracle Linux 6 and RHEL 6 only)

After installation, users must update the stub libraries in the 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 Oracle Homes by installing the patch12415211.

Users must specifically copy the files in the patch to the specified directories as follows for the 10.1.2 Oracle Home:

$ cd <12.1_INSTALL_DIR>/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/lib$ cp p R stubs stubsORIG$ cd stubs$ cp <PATCH_INSTALL_DIR>/12415211/files/lib/stubs/libgcc_s2.3.2stub.so .$ ln s libgcc_s2.3.2stub.so libgcc_s.so.1$ ln s libgcc_s.so.1 libgcc_s.so

After this is done and sourcing the APPS<CONTEXT_NAME>.env file, users should relink all 10.1.2 executables byrunning the $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone/adlnktools.sh script and ensuring that there are now no errors in themake log file output from the script.

The instructions for the 10.1.3 Oracle Home are:

$ cd <12.1_INSTALL_DIR>/apps/tech_st/10.1.3/lib$ cp p R stubs stubsORIG$ cd stubs$ cp <PATCH_INSTALL_DIR>/12415211/files/lib/stubs/libgcc_s2.3.2stub.so .$ ln s libgcc_s2.3.2stub.so libgcc_s.so.1$ ln s libgcc_s.so.1 libgcc_s.so

After this, users should relink sqlplus by running the<INSTALL_DIR>/apps/tech_st/10.1.3/appsutil/clone/adlnkweboh.sh script and ensuring that there are now noerrors in the make log file output from the script.

Upgrade Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server (Oracle Linux 6, RHEL 6 and SLES 11only)

Customers installing E-Business Suite 12.1.1 on Oracle Linux 6 using Rapid Install must upgrade the OracleDatabase to 11gR2 (11.2.0.3 or higher) and Oracle Application Server 10gR3 to 10.1.3.5 after installing EBS 12.1using the respective documents:

Interoperability Notes Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0) (MyOracle Support Note 1058763.1)Upgrading to the Latest OracleAS 10g 10.1.3.x Patch Set in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (My OracleSupport Note 454811.1)

Customers who are cloning an existing EBS environment to a new Oracle Linux 6 system must ensure that theiroriginal E-Business Suite instance has been upgraded to 11gR2 and 10.1.3.5 prior to performing the clone.

Apply AS 10g Forms/Reports Patch 13579719 (SLES 11 only)

Apply the patch 13579719 to resolve an issue with relinking Oracle Reports.

Manually fix database dbf file for Fresh production (PROD) database installs

For older versions of the startCD prior to the current version 12.1.1.13 (see Oracle Applications Release Notes,Release 12.1.1 My Oracle Support Document 798258.1), you must run the following sql commands to fix aparticular corrupted dbf file if installing the production (PROD) database:

$ sqlplus/nologsql> connect / as sysdba

sql> alter database datafile '[full path of system09.dbf]' resize 1000M;sql> alter database datafile '[full path of system09.dbf]' resize 1500M;

This step does not need to be run if Rapid Install was run with the current version of the startCD (12.1.1.13 orhigher).

Relink Advanced Supply Chain Planning executables (for SLES 10 and 11, Oracle Linux/RHEL5.4 or higher and Oracle Linux/RHEL 6 only)

During the relink phase of the installation of EBS Release 12 (12.1.1) on the above operating systems, failures willresult while relinking the Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP) executables MSO, MSC, MSR and FEM. To fix thisproblem, users are required to replace the following line under the Linux section of the$AD_TOP/bin/adrelinknew.sh:

CPP_LDFLAGS=' L$(ORACLE_HOME)/lib L$(ORACLE_HOME)/lib/stubs lclntsh'

with

CPP_LDFLAGS=' L$(ORACLE_HOME)/lib L$(ORACLE_HOME)/lib/stubs lclntsh Wl,noinhibitexec'

After making this change, users are then required to run the adadmin utility and relink application executables.

Additional Information: The application of an EBS Release Update Pack (RUP) or AD family pack could over-write the adrelinknew.sh file - users must then re-edit and make changes to the above file in order to avoidrelinking failures.

LD_LIBRARY_PATH Environment Variable

Dynamic libraries are used as part of the relinking and execution processes. The LD_LIBRARY_PATH environmentvariable is used by Oracle E-Business Suite to locate the required dynamic libraries at runtime - this variable is setby the Rapid Install wizard during the installation of EBS as well as by the Rapid Clone script (adcfgclone) whenconfiguring the target system.

If you need to change these values, use the Edit Parameters function of the OAM AutoConfig tool (by logging in as'System Administrator' responsibility, clicking on 'System Administrator', selecting 'AutoConfig' under 'OracleApplications Manager', and clicking on the 'Environments' tab):

On each application tier server node:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set in three places:

$APPL_TOP/admin/adovars.env$ORA_CONFIG_HOME/10.1.2/[CONTEXT_NAME].env, in the 10.1.2 Oracle home directory$ORA_CONFIG_HOME/10.1.3/[CONTEXT_NAME].env, in the 10.1.3 Oracle home directory

In the AutoConfig interface, this corresponds to:

Location Parameter

adovars LD_LIBRARY_PATH

tools_home (10.1.2) LD_LIBRARY_PATH

web_home (10.1.3) LD_LIBRARY_PATH

On the database server node:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set in $ORACLE_HOME/[CONTEXT_NAME].env which corresponds in theAutoConfig interface to:

Location Parameter

db_home LD_LIBRARY_PATH

After making these changes, run AutoConfig (adautocfg.sh) to implement the changes on the application anddatabase tiers.

Additional Information: See AutoConfig in Oracle E-Business Suite Maintenance Utilities for moreinformation on AutoConfig.

Net Service Listeners in Multiuser Installations

Net Service Listeners use the /var/tmp.oracle directory to store temporary files. To give all users in a multi-userinstallation write privileges, update /var/tmp/.oracle with 777 permissions:

$ chmod 777 /var/tmp/.oracle

Known Issues

The following are known issues for this release.

Advanced Supply Chain Planning product (MSO) may crash when increasing number of threads foroptimization

The 64-bit Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning executable MSONWL64.exe may crash when increasing thenumber of threads for optimization on a system with insufficient memory (bug 7259631). The following error isobserved when this occurs:

**** glibc detected *** MSONWL64.exe: corrupted doublelinked list:

0x00002aaaac0008b0 ****

Forms Applications hangs on Windows XP client (Oracle Linux 6, RHEL 6 and SLES 11 only)

When switching between a Forms application and any other desktop application on a Windows XP client, the Formsapplication can hang and users may see a stack trace in the Java console indicating a connection error (bug12636402) . This only occurs with this combination of the desktop client (Windows XP) and an E-Business Suitesystem running on a server with Oracle Linux 6.

Patching Application Server Oracle Homes using OPatch (Oracle Linux 6 and RHEL 6 only)

After an installation or clone of Release 12, you will need to set the OPATCH_PLATFORM_ID to '226' prior toapplying patches to the 10.1.2 or 10.1.3 Application Server Oracle Homes. For example, in the "ksh" shell:

$ OPATCH_PLATFORM_ID=226; export OPATCH_PLATFORM_ID

This step is needed to avoid an OPatch Config Assistant failure.
