A staged fight between two of our seniors was the premise for this year’s CCCOLOUROLOUROLOUR WWWARARAR BBBREAKOUTREAKOUTREAKOUT. The drama began at the first play practice, when Rebecca Goldreich and colour war co-head, Bayla Gavert, started a very public (but very planned) argument about the placement of dancers in their respective dances for play. The awkward altercation was filmed by Miri Kaiser (also part of the scheme). Since the school had been given strict instructions that play practice was not to be videoed or photographed, the next morning’s assembly was a nervous affair. Rabbi Feigenbaum announced that all the girls involved in this debacle needed to offer a public apology in front of the entire school. With teary eyes (fake) and a shaky voice (also contrived), each girl took a turn at expressing her regret for her part in this dramatic confrontation. The silence was overwhelming as the final girl took the mic. After a sincere and convincing apology, Bayla finally revealed the news - ”It’s Colour War!” It took a few seconds for the shock to wear off, but then the excitement was underway and a fun two days of learning, creating and bonding was had by all. Thank you to all the participants for helping to plan and execute this school event and to everyone who helped make this year’s colour war such a success.
