Credit or Debit? Know when to use each at the Checkout

When checking out at a store, you've probably been asked if you're using debit

or credit.

If you're using a debit card, you probably choose debit. By doing so, you are

making an ATM (automated teller machine) transaction, which could put you

over your debit card transaction limit of $400 per day.

TACU’s debit card bears a major credit card company logo (Visa), which means

you can choose credit when asked. The money still comes directly out of your

checking account, but isn't counted against your ATM transaction limit. You can

use up to $1,500 per day with the credit option. Just make sure you have

enough money in your account.

Timberwolf Talk ―Tito’s TACU‖ is the new THS branch

A recent competition invited THS students to submit name ideas for the new

TACU student branch. Named after the school mascot, TACU employees chose

―Tito’s TACU‖ to be the name of the new branch. TACU employees voted on their

favorite names based on creativity and functionality. The first place winner was

Brooks Snyder for entering the winning name. Second place was Kaleb Clark

for also entering ―Tito’s TACU,‖ but a couple weeks later. And the third place

winner was Kyra Riglemon for entering the name ―Timberwolves Den.‖

TACU is now working with the THS art department to create a new logo for

―Tito’s TACU.‖at www.tacuonline.com.

Elimination of Federal Tax Deposits Tax information for our business members

TACU will no longer accept tax payments for our business members starting

January 1, 2011.

Under the proposed rule, employers that now pay their federal taxes with a

paper FTD coupon (IRS Form 8109) must transition to an alternate payment

method, as of January 1, 2011. All coupon users will be pre-enrolled this month

in the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS), a free service from the

U.S. Department of the Treasury that has a number of channels, including

www.EFTPS.gov and a voice response system.

Businesses may also include a third party, such as a tax professional or payroll

service, initiate payments for them. The very smallest employers—typically,

those with a quarterly tax liability of less than $2,500—could mail a check with

their IRS return. To determine eligibility, these businesses should contact their

tax professional or visit www.IRS.gov (search on ―Tax Topics 757‖).

These business members can start using the EFTPS system after

enrolling. They do not have to wait until January.
