I heard nothing but rave reviews from vendors and attendees alike - all are looking forward to 2016! What a stunning success! My congratulations to our quilt winners - you made the show a challenge for the future. A thank-you to our co- chairs, Pat Smith and Judy Forster, for their dedication and hard work and to our committee chairs for their superb organization and seamless integration of all the many different facets of the show! I’m looking forward to Quilting in the Pines 2016 and the pleasure it will bring to so many! It’s time again to fill committee chair vacancies from those retiring after dedicated terms of service. To those ladies who are stepping down, thank you from all the Guild members for your hard work and efforts to make the Sandhills Quilters Guild the caring and progressive organization it is. Quilting in the Pines VI Beautiful quilts, exhibits and decorations, plus interesting boutique items, vendors, and raffle baskets were at our show. Many things for our guests to look at, admire, and purchase. Our thanks go out to all show chairpersons and all the many volunteers who helped put this show together. !The Fair Barn looked amazing and very inviting - we can all be happy with the show the Guild presented to the public. We received many compliments from the visitors about the beauty and quality of the quilts. ! Pat & Judy

!October - Following Guild meeting, Pat Kern, Guild Member, will teach a 6-hr. class on needle-turn, hand appliqué. Class fee is $10, plus materials if any. Pattern (supplied) is Partridge in a Pear Tree. (Tues. p.m. to Wed.) November - Program speaker: Judy Lilly, lecturing on her quilting journey and includes a trunk show. A 6-hr class on Wednesday, 9 to 3. Class fee is $45. Class is on Landscape Design. Six additional slots are available. This class will be held at Village House in Penick Village, 500 E. Rhode Island Avenue, Southern Pines. December - Holiday Party at Pinehurst Country Club on December 16th at 11:30 a.m. It is suggested that we arrive around 11 a.m. As a reward for all members’ hard work on the 2014 Quilt Show, we have engaged Charlotte Angotti to entertain us at the luncheon. The lunch is $18.50; RSVP by December 1. January 2015 - Features “back basting” by a Baltimore Album expert. February 2015 - more information to come; stay tuned. Sewing at the Senior Center !Every Monday (except Monday holidays) we are able to use the Senior Center on 15-501 from noon to 4 p.m. It’s a casual gathering; you can work on anything you wish and featuring good company and light, spacious surroundings. It’s also an excellent place for our “Bees” to meet. Please keep the Senior Center in mind when you gather to work on a project to simply to get together.
