I can’t honestly recall a busier time at the Lake Twp. Chamber. I am incredibly excited about the
opportunities that lie before us as an organization. Earlier this year, we celebrated business leaders at
our Annual Dinner. That feels like yesterday that we vowed to “A New Beginning.” We blinked and the
next thing we knew, it was time for our Golf Outing at Congress Lake Club. Wow! Another amazing
event and a collaboration of efforts on our members’ behalf.
In late summer, we launched Lake Chamber Community Cinema at NeoFill’s Campus. What an amazing
event and company to work with—we are excited to host another movie indoors at the Lake Community
Center when the snow starts flying. We visited the University of Findlay back in March to meet the foun-
der of The 3/50 Project, Cinda Baxter. We were thrilled when Todd Locke at WRL Advertising offered
event sponsorship, sparking the interest of WHBC, Canton Repository, Consumers National Bank and local
Chambers and business organizations to make the event a reality. We are honored to host her and her
positive message coming up on November 10th. If you haven’t signed up, please make it a priority to do
so.
As a business community, we are stronger when we join together to make a difference. We will have an
exciting Holiday announcement to make to encourage her message further, and then our year will culmi-
nate in a “Holidays at the Hollow” Luncheon at Quail Hollow State Park.
Whew! What a great year. Let’s finish this year strong before our next “New Beginning” in 2012!
Best Regards, Christa Kozy

Since 2008, we have prepared all-natural bread with no preservatives or potassium bromate. We utilize unbleached flours to create from 8-10 varieties. Our bread is
handmade and baked fresh daily. In 2011, we added homemade cream & butter
fudge to our line, with 18-50 varieties, depending on the season.

Our goal was an affordable, family-friendly, fun-filled evening for the community to gather and enjoy the arts, entertainment, local eats and enjoy the last weekend of the summertime. Mission accomplished! We had a won-derful turnout for our Lake Chamber Community Cinema debut, where guests enjoyed an outdoor showing of Rio. Over 150 people came out to enjoy the beautiful weather, entertainment by Kingston (formerly Carter Twins), Vibration Art Exhibit by local artists, Rio-themed crafts with PNC Bank and concessions from our local eateries. A huge thank you to Jim & Michele Varga of NeoFill LLC for hosting the event, the entertainment by the Carter Twins and sponsoring the movie night, which was fun for all ages! If you tuned into the hit show “X Factor” you would have seen Zach & Josh Carter of the Carter Twins (now known as Kingston) competing—we were excited to host them at our event and have enjoyed following their career! Their website is www.kingstonofficial.com for you to follow along as they make their new EP! We are looking forward to hosting another Lake Cham-ber Community Cinema indoors during the colder months at the Lake Community Center Performing Arts Hall within Lake High School. Stay tuned for opportunities to sponsor ads during the “previews” portion of the next Community Cinema, as well as ways for your business to get involved with concessions and activities!
The Employment Source Continues Excellence The Workforce Initiative Association (dba The Employment
Source) is pleased to announce that the organization has exceeded
seven and met two of its nine Common Measures performance stan-
dards under the Workforce Investment Act for program year 2010.

measuring outcomes in Entered Employment, Employment
Retention and Average Earnings. The three performance standards for
Youth are: Placement in Employment or Training, Attainment of a
Degree or Certificate, and Youth Literacy and Numeracy levels.
“We are pleased to continue the tradition of achieving top notch perform-
ance results,” states Alice Stephens, Executive Director of The Employ-
ment Source. “Our Workforce Investment Board, local elected officials
and staff are committed to providing excellent and effective services to
our area job seekers and business community.”

Important Points to Ponder on Issue 29
Issue #29, 0.5% sales tax to be used for Criminal and Administrative Justice Services for a period of Eight Years.
County government budgets have shrunk —14.4% in last two years.
Our sales tax rate in Stark County is 5.75%. Of this, 5.5% goes to the State of Ohio and .25% to SARTA. Stark County receives NOTHING!
46 counties in Ohio have a 1.5% sales tax; 35 counties have between 1.0% and 1.25% sales tax; 4 counties have 0.75%
The sales tax is levied on the sale of goods, except food and prescription medicines.
A county sales tax is a tax in which the burden on Stark Countians is reduced by the taxes paid by out-of county visitors. Belden Village surveys show that 40% of purchases are made by non- Stark County residents.
The jail (which in 2010 was fully open and housed 501 prisoners) will be reduced to 122 beds, holding only the most serious felons.
Lesser degree felons (drug offenses, burglaries, domestic violence, for example) and misdemeanants will not be jailed.
There will be limited and sometimes no road to patrols to provide a law enforcement for approximately 90, 000 Stark County Citizens. Booking at the jail will be severely curtailed from its current 24/7 service, due to staffing shortages at the stark county jail. Currently Canton, Massillon and Alliance do not have functioning jails. www.co.stark.oh.us

What is a “group rating” and how can it save my business money?
Joining a group rating program is the single best way for an
Ohio employer to significantly lower their workers’ compensa-
tion premiums. The most effective programs pool together employers
from similar industries with low claims experience, helping to generate
maximum premium savings for its participants. Based on each cus-
tomer’s unique eligibility criteria, we place employers in the highest
discount level achievable, minimizing the need to comparison shop.
CareWorks Consultants offers premium discounts up to the BWC
maximum. Programs are structured in a multi-tiered manner, provid-
ing the best opportunity to preserve an employer’s valuable group
rating status from year to year, even if new workplace injuries do occur.
This year, CCI has also added a service that they felt is much needed and
will be a valuable addition to the workers' compensation premium
discounts and claim management services that they already provide to
our members. Beginning in 2012 Unemployment Compensation consult-
ing services will be included as part of the group rating program package
for all of your members who are CCI group rating participants.
