Mauldin Mavs Caddie Day
November 9-10
The Mauldin Mavs Golf Team is offering caddie services for a donation to their program. Donations will go towards team gear and travel expenses. Help support the team that fin-ished 2nd in State last year by requesting their services during your round of golf. Request will be accepted one week before your scheduled tee time. Go Mavs!
Only two more opportunities for points! *Club Championship & *Closing day
With the greens healing from their aeration, please remember to take care of them by repairing all of your ball marks plus any others you may see. This includes your chip shots. We often forget about these because they are typically very close to the green. Being more aware of this allows us to play on some of the best greens in the upstate.
Our junior golf program is still going strong with our weekly clinics on Fridays at 4:00. Come join us! All levels are welcome! If Fridays don’t fit, call us and schedule your own group lesson with either Matthew, Jared, or Kylie.
See you at the Club!

Hello Holly Tree Members,
Football season has arrived- The heat is still with us- Every golfer still wants to improve!!
I can’t make your football team win every match or bring in the cooler weather, but I can help you become a better golfer.
This past year has been a blast for me. My stable of PGA players has increased and some of their results have been a treat to watch. It’s been a pleasure to help them with their games and become more recognized in the process.
Whilst my schedule has become hectic, I always make it a goal to offer as many options as I can to the Holly Tree membership to take part on my lesson schedule.
Being a part of the Holly Tree golf community is the best part of my job. I get to see everyone on a daily basis and always live to hear and see the feedback of your golfing efforts.
You can always find my schedule at https://square.site/appointments/book/3P9J1MD1MNK5F/bradley-hughes-golf-simpsonville-sc and make your bookings direct.
Good luck to everyone competing in the upcoming Club Championships. Play hard. Play well.

THE GROUNDS
Grounds News
Hello Holly Tree Members,
Leaves will be falling and golf will be going at full speed this month. With night time temperatures cooler and days beginning to cool down, we are looking forward to starting new projects and just enjoying being outside without nonstop sweating.
The greens are in great shape considering the aerification process and extreme hot weather that followed. During the month, we will be veritcutting and applying a light topdressing to keep the greens in the best possible condition. We do like a challenge and have had one with maintaining the greens. We will be going after the Bermuda grass you see in some of the greens. It’s a fight we’re doing our best to win!
Overseeding the driving range tees as well as the back lawn will happen when it cools off enough. Normally this would have been done by now, but we do not want put a cool season grass down with abnormally high temperatures. With a little patience, we’ll have beautiful Rye grass throughout the colder months.
We are going hard after the weeds that come on strong at the end of summer. Depending on the conditions and timing, these applications can burn the tips of the grasses that they are sprayed on. The turf is growing, so we just cut off the tip burn and there should be no more weeds, just great clean turf.
Cutting back on the extreme rough is happening around the course. We would like to get a jump on these areas before leaf season hits high gear. This is a loud process and the operator might not always be able to see everyone. We apologize for this but hope everyone likes the end product.
The Skills area is looking better and better. We will be removing a lot of trees from this area this winter. The main reason is for the needed sunlight, not only in the summer months, but in the winter months as well when the heat from the sun is most critical. I know we will see a big improvement once this process is done. Hole five remains roped off around the sink holes. These are dangerous areas, so please stay away from the ropes. We are still assessing options for the best long-term fix, but no decisions have been made.
The grass on the course is still growing, so please put a little sand in those divots. With the greens coming into peak growing season, fixing your pitch mark and others you see will keep the putting surface even nicer. Please remember to push toward the center of your pitch mark versus pulling up from the bottom, as this will break the roots.
The team and I look forward in seeing everyone enjoying this beautiful property during one of the best times of the year in the South.
