Issue 1213 Volume 04 A Fraternal Organizaon Serving Livonia for Over 50 Years October & November 2012 Thoughts from the Loyal Knight Members all, we certainly have our challenges set before us. We have been working very hard in the background to develop new strategies to help our lodge. In the meantime we have had to make some painful cutbacks. These strategies appear to be helping and we are now getting on a better path financially. We have launched a new website and Facebook page. These will help to promote our lodge and enhance our communication. We are also sending weekly Bugle Blasts via e-mail to keep members up to date on the latest events and happenings at the lodge. If you are not getting these e-mails, please let me know! Much thanks is due to our lodge members and the our Boy Scout Troop for their work to clean-up our parking lot. My son Sullivan performed his Eagle Scout project —restriping the parking lot. Check-out the photos on our Facebook page! Please note the announce- ments regarding our Boy Scout Troop’s fundraisers and food drive. We currently have a Holiday Wreath Fundraiser—sales sheets and order forms are on the lodge bulletin boards. The scouts’ food drive will be October 15th until November 8th. I hope to see you around the lodge soon, it’s a great place to be! As you can see in this issue, we have several new activities and events planned for the next couple of months. We also have a new dart board in the members’ lounge! As always, every moment you can donate to the lodge is greatly appre- ciated. We have a great group of volunteers that have a lot of fun work- ing with each other. Come join our team! Karl Swieczkowski, Lecturing Knight [email protected] or 248.867.9422 From the Secretary’s Desk As of this writing we have 31 members who have not paid their 2012-2013 lodge dues. The delinquent list is posted on the lodge bulletin board. I am requesting that each member review the list and if you have sponsored one of these members please phone him/her and encourage them to renew their membership. You will not be allowed to use the lodge facilities if your dues are not current. On October 23rd the following Southeast District Officers will be visiting our lodge on their annual inspection; DDGER Joe Antonishek, Livonia #2246, DVP Laurie Howard, Ann Arbor #325 & DVC Ken Hines, Plymouth #1780. Please plan on attending this lodge meeting and supporting your lodge officers. I am requesting volunteers for the committees of Scholarships and Membership. These are two very important committees that will guide the future of Elkdom. Please contact me at the lodge if you can volunteer a few hours of your time.
