PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH: Pastor Appreciation is the entire month of October. We want our pastors to know how much we appreciate their leadership, sacrifice, and devotion to the Lord. There is no real way for us to know just how much they and their families sacrifice to serve the Lord and lead us. For the month of October, there will be a box in the lobby where you can place cards expressing your love for our pastors. Please let them know how much they are valued!

BUDGET REQUESTS: All ministry leaders should submit a request for the amount they need to fulfill their ministry in 2017. TODAY is the deadline to submit budget requests. Request/Proposal MUST include: 1) Ministry mission statement, 2) Purpose of minis-try, and 3) Estimated budget needs. Requests should be placed in a sealed envelope marked “BUDGET - ATTN: AMANDA HUMPHREYS” & dropped in the offering plate or mailbox outside the church office door. Thanks!

CELEBRATE RECOVERY BREAK: The Celebrate Recovery Ministry will NOT MEET until November. Please spread the word to any-one you know who attends but may not see this bulletin announce-ment. Thank you.

THE CHILDREN NEED YOU: We need SEVERAL helpers and a few teachers to help Wednesday evenings with our children aged 0 to 5. You would serve on a rotation, so it’s not a year-long commitment. Help us give these precious little ones a firm foundation in Jesus’ love. If you are willing to help, please see Leah VanDyke or call the church office and give us your contact information to pass on to her. Thank you!

Thank you for coming to worship with us today. If you are a first-time visitor, I would sure like the opportunity to meet you and welcome you personally. Because I believe in a Sovereign God, I don’t believe anything happens by chance. I believe you were brought here for a purpose. I would love to help you discover that purpose, and to see if there is any way we as a church can bless and minister to you and your family. November 8 is approaching rapidly, and we need to make our voices heard in this presidential election. It is so important to participate!

The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday, October 18.

If you are not sure whether you are registered to vote, go to https://www.vote.org/am-i-registered-to-vote to check.

We will be taking a group to Annapolis for the Decision America Prayer Tour THIS Tuesday, October 11. We are chartering a bus to transport all who wish to go. The cost of the bus ride is $25 per adult and $15 per student (STUDENTS NOT ENROLLED IN PASTOR JOSH’S CLASS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT TO ATTEND).

Please bring a bag lunch to enjoy during the ride to the event. We do not plan to stop to purchase lunch.

We will leave the church at 9 a.m. and should return by 3 p.m. If you are interested in at-tending the event, please sign up at the Wel-come Center. Payment for your bus ticket may be placed in the offering, with “Decision America” in the memo area of the check.

We have a 30 day prayer calendar available at the Welcome Center as well. Whether you plan to attend the event or not, please take a prayer calendar, so that you may join us in corporate prayer for our state and nation.

Dear. Dr. Phillips,

I just wanted to thank you for the appreciation you and your members conveyed to me on Sunday (Sept. 25). It has been a long time since I shook so many hands, and I heard enough “thank you for your service” to last a lifetime. Believe me when I say every handshake and thank you meant so much to me.

I also wanted to thank you for the generous gift that your church bestowed to me. The wooden flag is predominately displayed in my office and it’s the first thing I see when I walk through the door. It will always be a constant reminder that despite these trying times, law enforcement is appreciated.

On Sunday, you spoke that the world is on fire and I agree with that assessment. However, it’s good to see that you are providing the water to good people who are willing to put out that fire. You are helping to make your community a better place, and for that, you and your members are appreciated.

Again, thank you for the invitation, the gift and of course, the great food! If I can ever be of service in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Jesus emphasized loving our neighbor as second only to loving God Himself.

We encourage everyone who attends PVBC to reach out in a friendly way to the folks who live in your neighborhood.

Take them some cookies (with a card attached). Stop by and shake their hand when you see them mowing the lawn (and give them a card). Invite them to attend church and ask if there is anything you can pray about for them.
