A VOCATION VIEW 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time – January 23, 2022 Do not be afraid. If the Lord is calling you to the ordained or consecrated life, do not be afraid. Jesus calls and will give you the grace to respond wholeheartedly. If God is calling you, call or email Father Joshua Johnson at (225) 336-8778, [email protected], or visit www.diobr.org/vocations.
Dear Friends, Last week priests of the diocese were to be in New Orleans for the annual Priest Formation Days; however, this year, like last year, it was cancelled due to COVID concerns. We propose, and fate disposes…. Also, our plans to hold one First Reconciliation service was changed to smaller groups for the same concern. Pivoting is the new ballet art. Last weekend, we welcomed into the order of the Catechumenate five persons: † Joshua Dibble † Allanie Dibble † Jackson Cope † Joseph DePrato † Kealin Smith and one person as a Candidate for Full Initiation, † Fabiana Montenegro Please pray for them as they move through the process of initiation. Next Monday, January 24th, Mr. Alex Landry will be honored as St Jean Vianney Distinguished graduate. He is the son of David and Michelle Landry and is currently in Pre Med at Vanderbilt University. Our Elementary School provides strong foundations for any career path. Please pray for the sick of the parish; and for our parish to remain open to the Holy Spirit’s invita-tion to financial stewardship. Stay safe and have good week. Love,

Third Sunday in Ordinary Time – Luke 1:1-4; 4:14-21 Jesus invites us to share in his ministry. He has anointed us and sent us to “proclaim liberty to captives, give sight to the blind, free the oppressed and proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.” This is our call no matter who we are. Jesus empowers us to heal and to preach His Word. We may not have the ability to “free” every captive. However, if we love one another unconditionally, our love and care may “free” a person of their loneliness or des-pair. We are not Jesus, but Jesus has commissioned us to be his disciples on this earth. As his disciples, we are called to share the good news and help anyone who is in need.
Emergency Assistance is in need of volunteers to meet with people in need of assistance. Meetings are held socially distant and masked. Contact Michelle in the parish office for more information.
Saturday, Feb. 26, 8AM Wednesday, March 2, 8AM
Volunteer 1-day, both days, a few hours each day. Must be 16 years and older.
Cards are being collected for our incarcerated brothers and sisters. Please drop off cards at the church collection basket or parish office. When you write a letter to a person in prison, it is more than just words written on a piece of paper. Those words have the power to breathe life and hope into their hearts. Your card can: Lift their spirits when they are feeling lonely.
Many hold on to their letters for years and return to them as a source of hope and comfort.
Encourage: Simple words of affirmation and encouragement go a long way in a place that is full of discouragement.
Inmates like to know that someone on the outside thought of them and prayed for them. Incarceration is tough. Loving people, willing to pray and speak life is so important.
