Hearing Assistance Devices Available
Did you know that St. Mary Church has a Personal
PA Tour Guide System available for those with
difficulty hearing? The parish has three lightweight,
multi-channel systems that help listen directly to the
sound coming through the public address system.
Volume controls are easy to use. If you want to use
the Personal PA Tour Guide, simply come to the
sacristy before Mass to borrow a unit, and return it
after Mass.
* Due to damage sustained in a lightening strike, the
system is currently inoperable. We are working to
correct this in conjunction with the new sound system
that is to be installed this week.

30th Sunday in Ordinary Time
The Pharisee in today’s gospel did not really go to pray; he went to inform God how good he was. The tax collector on the other hand prayed with humility, “O God, be merciful to me a sinner.” This parable tells us important things about prayer. When praying, don’t hold yourself above others, as the Pharisee did, instead pray with humility, see yourself like others—a sinner among sinners all in need of od’s mercy! Take time to pray this week, calling to mind the words of the psalmist: “The Lord hears the cry of the poor.”

Today’s Reflection
What kind of attitude do we bring with us to Mass each weekend? Do we feel proud of ourselves for what we have accomplished this week? Or do we feel inadequate, sorry for all the times we’ve failed, aware of our human weaknesses? As we celebrate the Eucharist together, let us examine our consciences and recognize our need for God’s mercy.
