We had very successful cross country and soccer seasons in which we were able to involve a great number of students from all three of our grades. MAP testing went well and the students are starting to settle into their schedules for the year. Currently we have 7 th and 8 th grade basketball going on, cheerleading, floor hockey, guitar club, art adventures, and Lego robotics. If your student has not spoken to you about joining some type of club or team; please encourage them to do so. We will be starting up Science O, chess, and bowling club soon and there are still many athletic opportunities throughout the remainder of the year as well. In closing, I would like to encourage you that you are always able to make suggestions for avenues for change here at Teeland. I believe in the programs that we have to offer our students and parents here at TMS, but am always looking for suggestions in how we can improve. If you have an idea or suggestion that might make our school better, you can communicate that directly through me, our front office, counselors, student government, or teachers. Have a wonderful October and as always, if you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. Jason Ross, Principal Teeland Middle School [email protected](907) 352-7503

Teeland Community,
As we enjoy our extended fall weather, I am happy to
share with you that we continue to do wonderful things
for kids here at Teeland. We had very successful cross
country and soccer seasons in which we were able to
involve a great number of students from all three of our
grades. MAP testing went well and the students are
starting to settle into their schedules for the year.
Currently we have 7th and 8th grade basketball going on,
cheerleading, floor hockey, guitar club, art adventures,
and Lego robotics. If your student has not spoken to you
about joining some type of club or team; please
encourage them to do so. We will be starting up
Science O, chess, and bowling club soon and there are
still many athletic opportunities throughout the
remainder of the year as well.
In closing, I would like to encourage you that you are
always able to make suggestions for avenues for change
here at Teeland. I believe in the programs that we
have to offer our students and parents here at TMS, but
am always looking for suggestions in how we can
improve. If you have an idea or suggestion that might
make our school better, you can communicate that
directly through me, our front office, counselors, student
government, or teachers.
Have a wonderful October and as always, if you have
questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in

Dear Parents and Families:
Reading for pleasure unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:
• Set the example. Let children see you read.• Have a collection of books in your home. Update this collection routinely to keep up
with changing tastes and reading skills.• Support our school’s Book Fair. Allow your children to choose their own books
to read.
Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits.
Book Fair dates: Monday, October 16 to Monday, October 30 Shopping hours: before school, after school until 2:45, October 30 from 11:30 A.M. to 7:30 P.M. Special activities: for every book purchased, receive an entry into the drawing for a basket of books
If you are unable to attend the Fair in person, we invite you to visit our online Book Fair at scholastic.com/fair. Our Online Fair is available from Friday, October 13 to Monday, October 30.
We look forward to seeing you and your family at our Book Fair! Remember, all purchases benefit our school.
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! You are invited to join your child and help him/her find the books he/she will enjoy reading. Our class will be visiting the Fair on:
October 16 – 30th TMS School Library
Here are some tips to consider before you visit:
• Take a look at our booklist flyer to see a sample of the great titles that will be available. Many parents find it helpful to make a wish list ahead of time:scholastic.com/bookfairs/books
• Get a jump-start on shopping through our Online Book Fair*! Simply find our Fair to getstarted: scholastic.com/fair
• Check out our Classroom Wish List of books. These are titles that I’d like to add to our classlibrary. Refreshing our classroom library regularly gives kids a reason to keep reading.
• Download the Book Fairs app to get the latest reading level information, book trailers, podcasts, and more. It’s the perfect shopping companion, and you can also use it topurchase books*: scholastic.com/bookfairs/app
I hope you can make it! And if you’re interested in volunteering, visit our school’s homepage and follow the link to volunteer: scholastic.com/fair
Looking forward to seeing you,
Tracy Verrall Teeland Middle School Librarian (907) 352-7526
*The Online Fair and purchase of books through the Book Fairs app is not available to “Buy One, Get One Free” Book Fairs. Online shopping is available to all other Fairs that would like to offer the expanded selection.
