In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence Theme Empowering Women Through Service and Advocacy President’s Message I hope that everyone had a wonderful long weekend – the weather was lovely and mild. It invited everyone outside. It seems that winter has now passed for another year and “Spring has sprung”! Spring means new life in the garden – lawns are greening and there are many bright colours with the flowers. The sun shining certainly seems to give rise to positive energy. This evening we welcome David and Val Slater and Chris Houlson. Both Chris and David have made goods for our Annual Raffle. We thank them both for all of their efforts – Chris for the beautiful Quilt and David for the wonderful Doll’s House. This will be drawn this evening – we trust that the winners will be very pleased with their “booty” and that we have raised a substantial sum for our Service Projects. Unfortunately, we do not have our regular October Meeting Women of Achievement Awards. As we were late in getting the applications out, we did not receive any nominations. Next year we must make a concerted effort for this. I give my apologies for the Fashion Parade on Saturday October 21 st . I am sure that it will be a success. Past member, Julie Sinclair and I visited there recently and I was able to get everything that I went for plus another pair of three quarter pants in grey and a delightful tee shirt that I can wear in the evening. I must say that I really like the Jillian pants of both lengths. At our Board Meeting on Thursday night, we decided that we would change our Agenda for the Dinner Meeting. Any feedback on the change would be appreciated. For the next meeting, we will have written reports from the Committee chairs. I will also be away for the November Meeting – I am travelling to South America for just over five weeks so I am sure that I will experience many new experiences, foods and cultures.
