Our Council does a ter- rific job supporting our school. Your input is greatly appreciat- ed. Please join us for the October meeting. PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Dear Families, We have had a great start to the school year. Thank you to the entire Woodland community for working together as we added staff and re- configured classes. It was well worth the effort! Your participation in the Meet The Staff and Mathematics Night was greatly appreciated. Our mathematics focus will continue as staff look at data to determine strengths and next steps for our students. We will be looking at EQAO re- sults and year end assessments during the October 7th, PA Day. Our staff are very proud of the results for the grade 3 and grade 6 EQAO assess- ments from last spring (Percentages of students achieving level 3 or 4 Grade 3: Reading 57%, Writing 86%, Mathematics 79%, Grade 6: Reading 95%, Writing 100%, Mathematics 74%. Both our grade 3 and grade 6 math results were well above the Board and Provincial results. Well done! Congratulations to all our students who participated in the T-Shirt Design Contest. We had 14 entries. Isabell Bourne received the most votes by school council. Well done! The Wolves were very active in sports in September. Congratulations to the Junior Co-ed Soccer Team for playing so well through the rain. The Co-ed Intermediate Soccer Team were finalists at their tournament. Throughout October, students are participating in Cross Country and Intermediate Vol- leyball . Go Wolves! Thank you to our staff for coaching. I wish all our families a Happy Thanksgiving! Mr. S. Shad Professional Activity Day Friday, October 7th has been designated as a Professional Ac- tivity Day by the District School Board of Niagara. There will be no school for the students. Thanksgiving Holiday Monday, October 10th, is the Thanksgiving Day Holiday. Student Snack Program We need volunteers for an hour, just 2 days a month. The snack program runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. You would be at the school from 10-11 am, preparing food and handing it out to students. Please contact the school if you are able to help.
