Congratulations to Arklan students and their supportive families! Arklan staff, students and volun-teers participated in the Terry Fox Walk on October 1st raising funds for cancer research. Thank you once again for your outstanding support and generosity!

Terry Fox Walk 2015

We, as educators, and you as par-ents/guardians, all have a duty to ensure the safety of our students. Safe Arrival procedures are a legislated requirement for elementary students in Ontario.

If your child is absent, or you know of a future ab-sence, it is your responsibility to notify the school. Here are some options for contacting the school:

Call the school at 613-257-8113 and leave a mes-sage on extension 1. This option is available 24/7

Tell Mrs. Braiden or Mrs. Todd

Write a note in your child’s agenda

Send a note to the office

Send a message via Facebook. It’s completely private….only office staff see these messages.

If we are unable to contact you through the phone numbers you provide, we will attempt to phone your emergency contacts. If we are unsuccessful in reach-ing any contact, the board protocol is to report un-known absences to the OPP.

If you have a chance, please take a moment to visit the “lost & found” area, which is located in the lunch-room. It’s early in the year, but it’s already filling up!

Fire Prevention Week is October 5th to 9th, 2015. On Tuesday, October 6th, Fire Prevention Officer, Matt Anderson, from the Ocean Wave Fire Company will be at Arklan School. Every class will be participating in Fire Safety Presentations in our library.

Fire Prevention Week

Once again this year we are pleased to assist the Lanark Coun-ty Snowsuit Campaign coordinat-ed by Family and Children’s Ser-vices of Lanark, Leeds and Gren-ville. The goal of the campaign is to ensure that all children and youth in our community have a

warm winter jacket or snowsuit. Hundreds and snowsuits and jack-ets are distributed each year.

Please donate your gently used, clean winter jackets and snow-suits in the drop off box located in the front foyer of Arklan School.
