Here we are in early Autumn already, headed toward the holidays! October is such a beautiful month, with an explo- sion of color, crisp air, and football games. Many of us are scurrying to start or finish holiday pieces to sell or give as gifts. This is a busy and exciting time of the year! Our September meeting was wonderful! Keith Maupin, from the Yellow Ribbon Support Founda- tion, had lunch with us and talked about his program. If you were there, then you know how in- teresting his stories were! He talked about his son who was captured and didn’t make it home. Mr. Maupin, helped us realize just how important support from us here “at home” is to the well- being of the soldiers serving our country. And we filled his van to the top with our donations! Thanks to all who helped, and especially to Peggy Hermes – “the hostess with the mostess!” Our “Fun Fall” continues with more events! We will be painting our new nametags at the Octo- ber meeting. They are shaped like a painter’s palette, with brushes sticking out above and be- low. Bring your ideas and paint with you to work on this! We will also have a young man from Starfire visit us with his caseworker, and will help us paint walker bags. He will then take them back with him to hand out. November 1 is the retreat preview party, and elections are the next Sunday at our monthly meeting on November 8. And don’t forget the Christmas party on Sun- day, December 13!
