  • Dear Group Presidents,

After discussing this with the officers of the Zone, we made the decision to

cancel the Zone Rally to help to prevent the spread of COVID19. We do not have

any bylaws to vote upon. We have one nomination for Zone President, Tina Lenz

from Our Redeemer. We have one nomination for Vice President, Cathy

VandeBraak, from Zion in Sioux Falls.

The ingathering of napkins can be delivered to the entry way of Memorial

Lutheran Church on any weekday. The secretary is always there during the day.

We will have copies of the Rally booklet and will get them to you. Thank you to

Emily Lafrentz for making them and getting our ingathering project decided. In

the future Pastor Darren Olson will do the Bible study that he was planning to do

for us. I will work with Pastor Aker to have an installation of our new officers.

Thank you for your support of me over the last 4 years. The weather and

COVID19 made us make changes in our usual schedule. May God bless your work

for Him in LWML. Please continue to do projects of love and kindness for your

neighbors. I look forward to being in touch with you as the SD District President.

Please continue to pray for LWML and the mission grants on the national and the

    district levels.

    In God's Love,

    Patty Peters, SF Zone President

Our South Dakota LWML website says it has been archived and can be viewed at your

(under the worship tab) but I was not able to locate it.

It says it will be archived, unfortunately, I could not find where it was archived

Your Strong Suit Video Bible Study

Join us online for an eight-week, verse-by-verse study of

Ephesians 6:10-18. The armor of God details the incredible

protection that God provides to His children. Even though we

may not like discussing spiritual warfare, it is necessary

because it is real. Spiritual warfare has the potential to rob

us of peace and security only to leave behind doubt and

unrest. But God offers protection to us – HIS protection.

Journey through this study as we learn about the battle, our

enemy, our armor, and our place in God’s army. But most

importantly, we come to know the rock-solid truth that God

has provided everything needed for us to proclaim ultimate victory.

Watch on Facebook Live Join Donna Snow and your LWML friends from around the

world as we unite together in Bible study live on the LWML Facebook page each

Tuesday night, October 6 through November 24, 2020.

  • Zone Officer

    Reports

I thank God and the ladies of the Sioux Falls Zone of LWML for the opportunity to be the Zone

President for the last 4 years. God continues to bless our Zone with ladies and our pastors that do the

work of spreading the Gospel to the world, whether in our Zone or beyond. It is a blessing to see

young ladies be in leadership roles. Thank you, to each group in the SF Zone, for hosting the Prayer

Services, Fall Rallies, Christian Life Workshops, and other meetings. Our Zone hosted the District

Convention in 2018. I thank Pastor Corey Aker for being our Zone Counselor.

In this last year of my role as president I was part of the Fall Rally that was held at Trinity Lutheran,

Hartford, and Zone board meetings. Because of the COVID19 pandemic we could hold our 2020

Prayer Service in March. I attended the District Board of Directors’ meeting in January. I became the

District President this spring. We could not have an in-person District Convention, but the voting

was held for the officers, bylaws, and mission grants. I attended the Fall Christian Life Workshop

and am active in my group at Faith Lutheran Church.

May God continue to bless our Zone and help us to show the love of Jesus to our neighbor.

    Zone President Patty Peters

Last October I attended the Fall Rally at Trinity Lutheran Church.

The South Dakota LWML Convention for June was cancelled.

  • Candidate for President

Tina Marie (Hoyt) Lenz attends Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Tina

has held the Co-chairman position of the Evening LWML Society. She has helped in

various areas of LWML with the family Christmas ornaments, society gatherings,

fundraising for Missions, organizing events for mission projects, serving on

committees for the State LWML gatherings. Etc.

Tina has also served at Our Redeemer as a Sunday School music leader, organized

VBS, taught an adult Liberian English class, played in the bell choir, sang in the

adult choir, served on the Long Range Planning Committee for remodeling and

worked on the decorating of the church.

In May Tina retired from Sioux Falls Lutheran School after a total of 35 years of

teaching. She has taught the majority of her career in Lutheran Schools as well as

a few years of public education. Her first call, out of college, was to Sioux Falls

Lutheran School to help start the Kindergarten-Third grades.

Tina is married to Rod and they have two married grown daughters. Andrea and

Steve and their three children live in Wichita, KS. Ashley and Derek and their two

boys live in Castle Rock, CO. Being a Gramma Tina/Grammy/MeMe is one of the

greatest joys in her life! God has truly blessed them with four awesome grandsons

and one beautiful granddaughter to love on.

Her favorite Bible verse is, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” This was her

Confirmation verse and has served many years, as a reminder, to always trust God

no matter the situation in life.

    Candidate for Vice President

Cathy VandeBraak attends Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Cathy has held the

positions of Secretary, Vice President and President of Zion’s LWML society along

with Co-chair of the Eve Circle. She has also served on the Board of Youth.

Cathy studied psychology and religion at Augustana University before completing

her master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Sioux Falls Seminary. She

has worked the last 25 years in the field of family ministry and education.

Cathy is married to Mark and they have two children. Mark works for Avera as a

Grief and Music Therapist. He enjoys playing keys for the praise band at Zion and

with Jacob Daniel Music. Their daughter, Rebecca, lives in Sioux Falls and works at

  • Sanford Ophthalmology. She has plans for graduate school in the near future to

become a physician assistant. Their son, Seth, is currently completing his senior

year in electrical engineering and material science from the University of Virginia

via the internet from the basement due to COVID. He has accepted a position with

Northrup Grumman near Baltimore, MD beginning in July 2021.

Her favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher

than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your

thoughts.” This teaches us that God is a righteous, good and just God, but he is

also merciful. If we turn to Him, He will pardon us.
