    Dr. David Craig ~ University HonorsProgram Director

    Dr. David Craig has officially accepted theposition of University Honors ProgramDirector.Dr. Craig is currently teaching HonorsPerspectives & Understandings, the requiredintroductory course for Honors students.

    For thirty-three years Dr. Craig was a facultymember at Clarkson University in New York,and was the Director of the UniversityHonors Program there for fourteen years. Asthe Founder and Director of the HonorsProgram there, Dr. Craig worked diligentlyto enhance education at Clarkson University,particularly for honors students who can bean underserved constituency. As Dr. Craig takes on this new position as

    University Honors Program Director, helooks to enhance the curriculum of Honorscourses to meet the needs and desires ofdriven Honors students; and to increase thenumber of Honors courses available. Inaddition he looks to increase the number ofstudents enrolled in the Honors Program;and to improve the graduation rate ofHonors students as University HonorsScholars.Welcome David; and good luck in your new

    role as Honors Program Director!

    Club will host Honors Research Presentations,allowing students an opportunity to presentresearch to MSUB administration, faculty,students, and the public.

    This is also an opportunity to prepare forthe National Conference on UndergraduateResearch (NCUR). Please see page 6 for moreinformation.

    The Honors Course Competition was designed in order to incorporate student interests and ideas into an Honors Coursefor the Spring semester.

    Entries will be reviewed by the Honors Student Advisory Council (HSAC) members in conjunction with the Director of the University Honors Program. After a course proposal has been selected, HSAC members and the Director will workto make the necessary arrangements for the class to be available for enrollment in the Spring.     Presentations: Thursday, November 3 rd , 20116:30p in the Lewis & Clark Room of the SUB

    The Honors Research Presentations are designed to give students the opportunity to present their researchto members of the MSUB administration, faculty, staff, and student body, as well as the public.

    This is also an opportunity to prepare for the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) to beheld at the end of March, at Weber State University, Utah. For more information about NCUR, visit theirwebsite (http://www.weber.edu/ncur2012 ).

    Honors Contract: By special arrangement students may negotiate an Honors Contract witha professor. This contract will suffice to make a regular class fulfill an honors requirement through advanced work as specified by the contract.     Scribendi SubmissionsScribendi is a Fine Arts & Literature Magazine publishedannually by the University Of New Mexico Honors Program.Submissions are accepted in the areas of: digital art, digital media,photography, music, film, poetry, essays, creative non-fiction,short fiction, and foreign language. Only students enrolled in theHonors Program are eligible to submit their work. Six $250 prizeswill be awarded. If you are interested in being published, please
