Lackland ISD Receives “Superior” Rating for Financial Integrity Lackland Independent School District received a top rating of ‘superior achievement’ for financial integrity from the Texas Education Agency for the 2009-2010 school year. According to the TEA website: “The purpose of the financial accountability rating system (Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Title 19, § 109.1001) is to ensure that school districts and open-enrollment charter schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and achieve improved performance in the management of their financial resources. The system is designed to encourage Texas public schools to manage their financial resources better in order to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes. The system will also disclose the quality of local management and decision-making processes that impact the allocation of financial resources in Texas public schools. The state of Texas has 1029 school districts and Lackland ISD was one of the 784 to receive the agency’s highest rating. Special thanks to Mrs. Rebecca Estrada, Executive Director for Finance and her staff who do a phenomenal job managing the district’s finances. Lackland met 21 of the state’s 22 indicators that are measured on the FIRST instrument. A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 11:30am in the LISD Board Room to discuss the results in detail. All are welcome to attend. to work together and accomplish all of our goals in this cool book.
