Wow I can’t believe it is term 3 already. What an exciting term full of teaching and learning we have ahead of us. I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing holiday with their families. Please keep an eye on the parent portal, Facebook and newsletter for upcoming events. On Monday the staff participated in professional learning this included Visible Learning. They looked at setting specific learning intentions and success criteria for whole class subjects and individual student goals. The staff also had a chance to have a stage meeting and finalise teaching and learning programs for term 3. This week paid sport started. It was wonderful to see the enjoyment on the students faces. I watched the AFL skills and mini game in action with Mr Wiblen. I also popped my head into the basketball games with Mrs Ensor and dance – Hip Hop with Tiana Carr and Contempory with Danielle Stewart. Rob Brough our GA even took a group fishing and one of the students (Archer) caught a Bream. Archer obviously kissed and threw the fish back into water before they got a picture – a true fisherman! The students were all engaged, sweaty and inspiring. A massive thank you to Mrs Torresi for all your hard work, organisation and thorough planning of another amazing opportunity for our students. We would like to welcome Mr James Egas three days per week who will be taking Mrs Lengyel’s class while she is on leave this term. The staff would also like to welcome Miss Bianca Lowe who is a fourth year practicum student. Miss Lowe will be on K/1B this term. COVID update Regional schools which includes Ocean Shores Public School will remain on Level 2 Restrictions up until 30 th July, 2021 where this advice will be revised and updated. This information is based on advice from NSW Health, schools in regional NSW are asked to restrict non-essential visitor access to school sites and make adjustments to some activities, such as choir and band. NSW Department of Education website will be updated regularly with more information. This is a challenging time for us however we have risen to the COVID challenge before and have the utmost confidence that we can manage in a way that maintains safety while ensuring quality teaching, learning and support. Our staff will follow Public Health Orders which are in line with practices for all workplaces across NSW. We instruct any student, teacher or staff member with any symptoms, or who is feeling unwell, to not attend school and to take a COVID test immediately or isolate for 10 days with a doctor certificate until symptom free. Students and staff who have attended any venue of concern identified by NSW Health should follow NSW Continued page 2
