The Ocean City Chamber had a great visit in Annapolis for the Annual MD Chamber’s Meet the State. We
were able to share our legislative priorities and network with other chambers and business across the state,
as well as meet with legislators face to face and discuss our issues. The Maryland Chamber has a fantastic
senior legislative team that is working alongside many statewide associations, as well as the local chambers of
commerce including Ocean City, to support business friendly legislation such as a provision with Mandatory
Paid Leave that would increase the 106 day exemption to 120, as well as oppose legislation that overregulates
small business such as Increased Minimum Wage (Fight for Fifteen) and Restrictive Scheduling. Unfortunately,
a bill has also been introduced that would repeal the Governor’s Executive Order mandating that all MD
schools start after Labor Day, which we are fighting. We will also continue to monitor any legislation that
could impact the J-1 SWT program or relevant to limited residential lodging. Please keep sending emails and
letters pleading how these issues impact your business!
As the session progresses, please view the legislative updates in the weekly e-lert and on our website at http://oceancity.org/the-chamber/maryland- legislative-updates/.
