WaterJet Support Table/Counter Specifications

4 Site RequirementsThe following factors should be considered when choosing a suitable location for the WaterJet unit:

• Type of configuration: countertop or floor

• Proximity to the Stratasys 3D printer.

To avoid water damage to the printer, install the WaterJet in another room or at least 5 meters (16.5 feet) away from the printer.

• Proximity to an area where models can be soaked in caustic soda (sodium hydroxide), and where they can dry after WaterJet treatment.

4.1 WaterJet Support Table/Counter SpecificationsThe recommended height of the table/counter is 80 cm (31 inches). This establishes a height of 120 cm (47.2 inches) at arm level for the average person.

The support table or counter must be sturdy capable of carrying a load of at least 30 kg (66 lb). The table must be level.

4.2 Water SupplyThe WaterJet system requires a connection to the regular water supply.

The customer must supply a suitable water tap. The water tap should be located next to, or in back of the water pump.

Warning:Two people are required to lift the WaterJet unit onto the table.

Objet WaterJet Site Preparation GuideSite Requirements

A water filter is also recommended to protect the water pressure pump. For water filtering recommendations, see “Water Filter” on page 17.

Figure 4–4  Water tap (an example)

The WaterJet unit connects to a separate water pressure pump. Stratasys supplies a 3 meter (10 foot) garden hose, necessary clamps and adaptors to connect the WaterJet unit to the water pressure pump.

Figure 4–5  Garden hose, hose adapters and hose clamps

The water pressure pump can be placed up to 3 meters (10 feet) from the water tap. If you need to place the water pressure pump farther away from the water tap, install a longer garden hose (not supplied).

Using the pressure hose and electrical cable supplied with the pump, you can place the water pressure pump up to 3 meters (10 feet) from the WaterJet unit.

USAEurope & Japan

Important:The pressure of the water supplied to the water pressure pump after the filter must never drop below 1 atm.Lower water pressure may cause the pump to overheat and fail.

DrainWater Filter

The following illustration shows a suggested installation arrangement.

Figure 4–6  Suggested room layout

4.2.1 Water FilterIt is recommended that you install a 100‐micron filter between the water tap and the garden hose. When installed, the water filter should be accessible for maintenance.

4.3 DrainThe waste water from the WaterJet unit typically empties into the building’s drainage system. Therefore, you must prepare a suitable drain near the unit. It is recommended that you locate the drain pipe behind the WaterJet unit and below the drain outlet on the WaterJet.

The WaterJet unit comes equipped with a drain hose, approximately 3 meters (10 feet) in length. You can connect the hose to a standard drain pipe with a diameter of 3.9 centimeters (1.5 inches).

Alternatively, you can connect an extension to the WaterJet drain hose and run it to a nearby drain, as shown in Figure 4–7.

Figure 4–7  Drain configurations (examples)

4.4 FloorIt is recommended that the floor around the WaterJet unit have a non‐slip surface because water may drip from cleaned models.

4.5 Power• Wall outlet

An electrical outlet must be available near the WaterJet unit, preferably in back of the unit, to reduce the chances of water spraying on the outlet.The wall outlet must have (or be connected to) a residual current device (RCD)—ground current‐leakage detector—that protects from a leakage of more than 30mA.

• Circuit breakerThe electrical circuit must be protected by a circuit breaker with the specifications shown in the following table.

Table 4: Circuit breaker specifications

PowerGrounding

• Power cable

• For Europe, the distributor or customer must supply anIEC 320 (C13) 10A/100–230 V power cable.

• For North America and Japan, an IEC 320 (C13 to 5–15P) 15A/120 V power cable is supplied.

Figure 4–8  Power cable for North America and Japan (example)

4.5.1 GroundingThe WaterJet unit is grounded through the AC plug. Make sure that the ground connector in the ground fault protection wall outlet or on the circuit is properly grounded, in accordance with your local electrical codes.
