Future inventions for a brighter futureWhatever our background are, we all have our favorite invention. It can be cars, bicycles or even the toothbrush. A recent survey named TV as the greatest invention ever. But how about inventions for the future ? Which inventions will shape our lives to bring a better future for all ? No doubt that the human beings have to find quick and efficient solutions to improve the planet. Some scientists even said that it might be too late ! But here is a list of things we need to do to reinvent a future for Earth.Number one is definitely to find a new source of power. Most scientists admitted that our oil would run out. We have just about fifty years worth left if industrialization stops accelerating. At a recent conference about the world's future some scientists claimed that the solution was solar power. They believe that gigantic mirrors in the sky will help to provide electricity for the whole world. The second option is to deal more efficiently with our waste as many societies still bury they waste underground or even dump it into oceans which creates a wide environmental issue. Dimitri Polkiev and Karina Stef, both inventors, say that they are working on prototypes to convert waste into new sources of energy.Another idea to fight against identity theft has been brought by some biologists. They hope that in near future we will all have tiny microchips under our skin with our genetic data to check our ID. As for medecine is concerned, Genna Smith claimed that by examining people's genes we would be able to prevent future illnesses.

Often we use reporting speech and reporting verbs to paraphrase the meaning

Eg : « Let's learn grammar » = She thinks we should learn grammar

« Why don't we discuss this matter further ? » = He suggested that we discussed the matter further

« It was my mistake » = He admitted it was his mistake

Grammar point : Find some examples of reported speech in the text. What happens to verb tenses when speech is

reported ?
