Happy summer to all our families!
It is SO hard to believe that yet another year has come to a close. We have so many successes and reasons to celebrate this week. Your child(ren) are amazing and I want to THANK YOU for sharing them with all of us this year.
As we close out the school year, we celebrate our 5th and 6th grad-ers! CONGRATULATIONS! Oak View wants to thank all our staff who will be leaving us. We appreciate all they have done to contribute to our school communi-ty. A list of the staff leaving for a variety of reasons is featured on the last page of the newsletter. Three teachers are retiring: Mrs. Fornasiere, Ms. Cummings, and Mrs. Rees. Best wishes to all of them!
Summer is great chance to continue your child’s learning through reading, real life math practice, field trips, observations, letter or journal writing, research writing and asking lots of high level ques-tions that require your child to think or look for information to an-swer the questions.
Wishing you a very safe, relaxing, and fun summer break!

News from Mr. Warner the Counselor
The Math Masters team participated in the regional Math Masters of Minnesota Challenge at John Glenn Middle School in Maplewood on April 25th. The students competed individually and as teams on eight sets of mathematical problems in this competition. Emma Nahr re-ceived 11th place out of 201 total students. This year there were approximately 5000 fifth and sixth graders registered to compete. Math Masters of Minnesota began as a fifth grade math competition and 1989 and in 1995 expanded to include sixth graders. Math Masters is designed to promote excellence in critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities as well as provide recognition to students for academic effort and achievement. Math Masters is supported by the Hormel Foundation as well as many other individuals and businesses. The team advisor/coach is Anne Kolden one of our 5th grade teachers. The team members are: Maddy Ahlquist, Philip Buebeng, Gifty Brown, Tyler Dehn, Avril Garcia-Chavez, Zachery Mer-win, Cameron McDaniel, Jacob Momanyi, Emma Nahr, Sammy Myervold, Emily Olson, Grant Sorensen, Lily Tiffany, Gwyn Tucker and Addie White. The two alternates were Rylan Lun-deen and Olivia Larson.
Do three things over the sum-mer months:
Keep reading and writing each day
Practice math facts
Stay safe
Hello! I can’t believe that we are at the end of the year! This year has literally raced by.
If you feel that you may need my services in the fall please consider giving me a call yet this school year to put some plans in place. Topics of need include: family changes, grief and loss, anxiety, behav-ior management, friendship concerns, etc. No need is too small. Just give me a call so we can all start the year on the same page.
Students (K-6) have had discussions and been encouraged during our final lesson of the year to do three things over the summer months.
1. Keep reading and writing each day (great to see how many students have library cards) 2. Practice math facts 3. Stay safe
It is amazing to see how many students already have their summer months full of planned activities. We definitely want to keep them busy!
As always, if you have a question or concern about your student here at Oak View don’t hesitate to give me a call or send me an email at [email protected].

Transportation for
2015-16
All families will receive a post card
in the mail a few days before the
start of school with their assigned
bus number and bus stop.
Students Going to Middle School Please remember that all students entering seventh grade must
have their immunizations up to date. In many cases this will in-

records must be brought to the middle school your child will be
attending.
DI Ice Cream Sales
Thank you for supporting our DI team by
buying ice cream at lunch. They did great in
Tennessee by placing 38th out of 50 teams.
Not bad for our first trip to Globals.
