The school year is starting again and with it always comes changes! I used to remember how

excited I used to get to find out my teacher and friends for each new school year and shop for new

supplies. I could organize my pencil box for weeks in anticipation.

This fall, there are also some changes in Greenville Figure Skating and the Skate School of GCRD.

First, don’t forget that all skaters on freestyle sessions need to be a member of GFSC. This policy

will be enforced starting with the new fall freestyle schedule. But with that membership require-

ment will come improved communication with all of our skaters. We have already enjoyed the new

member welcome party and kicking off the mentoring team.

Second, GCRD has announced a new unlimited skating pass that will be available on a monthly

basis. For many skaters, this offers a substantial savings, and for others, it is a great incentive to

come train more.

Third, we have updated our club website which I detailed in a recent e-mail. Check it out and send

All test sessions are open to the

public to watch. Coming to a test

session once before you are actually

testing is a great way to see what a

test session is like to calm those

first test jitters. A schedule of the

testing times will be posted on the

club bulletin board.

Club Ice is a benefit for Full and Senior Level Members.

Bridge members will receive an invitation for the three club

ice events that are planned for all members.

• All full and senior level members should have received

an e-mail with a list of club ice monitor assignments

for the year. If you did not receive it, check the bulletin

board or contact us so that you do not miss your date.

• Remember that if you cannot make your assigned

time, you must find a replacement to avoid paying a

$25 fine.

• Don’t forget to check in with the ice monitor and sign

the attendance sheet each week at club ice.

• Program nights will still usually be held on the last club

ice of each month. Check the schedule for dates.
