SERVICE SCENE Whiteleys Entertained At Farewell Cruise The Secretary of the Air Force and Mrs. Donald A. Quarles entertained on board the Navy yacht Sequoia last night in honor of Gen. Sir John Whiteley, the departing chairman of the British Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, and Lady Whiteley. The Whiteleys are sailing to return to England on June 29. Oru be r were honored last night at a dance given by Mr. and Mrs. John Davis. The party took place at the hosts’ Arlington residence and it wasn’t hard to figure out what nationality the guests of honor were. All the flowers were red and white (the colors of the Aus- trian flag), the hostess wore a white organdy dress which had red polka dots on the skirts and the hot dish at the buffet supper was Austrian goulash. Some 150 guests were greeted by the hosts and the Grubers in a receiving line. They then wandered out on the terrace for dancing. Tables seating 14 were placed around the swimming pool and a buffet supper was served at 11 o’clock. The setting was fur- ther beautified by scores of Japanese lanterns. Among those invited were Dominican Ambassador and Senora de Salazar, the Ko- rean Ambassador and Mme. Yang, the Bolivian Ambassa- dor and Senora de Andrade, Secretary General of the Or- ganization of American States and Senora de Mora, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Biffle and the Am- bassador of Pakistan and Begum All.
