1. SURFACE The surface on which the tiles are to be laid should be clean and free from dirt and dust particles to avoid contamination. Before
laying floor tiles on old mosaic and cement floors, the floor should be chipped with a chisel or sharp tool so that the surface is sufficiently rough to grasp the mortar.
2. MORTAR (THICKSET METHOD) The mortar mixture should be in the ratio of 1 :3 cement to sand by volume. Recommended thickness of mortar bed for a new
floor is 1" to 1.5" and for an old existing mosaic or cement floor 1/2" is sufficient. The mix should be used within two hours. Unused or remaining mix should be discarded.
3. TILE LAYING Tiles should be completely immersed in clean water for about 45 minutes before using and should be laid as soon as the surface
water has dried. Completely dried or partly dried tiles should not be used. Wetting is recommended on dry floors. Soaking of tiles or wetting of floors is not required in case of laying with chemical adhesive.
Please Follow the fixing of tile by looking at design. If the design is random in print then application can be as per choice. Before fixing, tiles should be coated with a thin layer of cement slurry or tile fixing adhesive sufficient to cover grooves to have better grip and strength and also to avoid air pockets. Tiles should be gently & evenly tapped after laying to ensuring total contact with the substrate.
Tiling should preferably be started from the center area so that cut tiles, if any, come only on the sides. Arrange tiles in the desired layout before fixing ensuring that there are equal cut tiles at either end. Proper gradient of floor should be provided for ease in drainage & ensuring avoidance of water accumulation.
4. ADHESIVE (THIN SET METHOD) Swastik ceracon recommends fixing of tiles with adhesive. Proper care should be taken in terms of selection of adhesive with
the area intended for usage. Various adhesives for varied application are available in the market. Proper consultation with adhesive supplier is recommended. Follow the instruction of the adhesive manufacturer for fixing oftiles.
ADVANTAGES OF THIN SET A) Ease of application B) Quicker application C) Faster usage of the tiles area D) Less cumbersome& non messy E) Lesser changes of bad masonary F) Better bonding between tile & substrate G) Lesser amount of dead load on structure H) Any surface can be instantly used for tiling without major
changes
5. GROUTING Leave a grout joint of about 3-4 mm between two tiles. The
gaps between tiles should be filled with cementatious chemical grout available in the market. Always follow the instructions of grout manufacturer in order to avoid masonary complaint.
After filling the joints, floor surface should be cleaned with
sponge or a piece of cloth and filler should be allowed to set for 24 hours by avoiding all traffic there on.
* The Tiles with sukre are meant for wall as the surface finish do contain sugar effect for glittering, the surface may absorb grout/morter during installation. We strongly recommend to use the grout/morter on specified joints and clean immediately to prevent possible difficulties in later stage. However, we have taken enough care to provide maximum protection against the surface with intended beauty for the product. Final Beauty of the laid tiles are truly dependent on how the tiles are laid with extra care.
*THE COMPANY SHALL NOT BEAR ANY LIABILITY FOR THE PROBLEMS OUT OF NON
FULFILLMENT OF LAYING THE INSTRUCTIONS AS ABOVE.
