- 1. East 103rd Street Community Garden Located in East Harlems
neighborhood, this large space had suffered from great neglect
until the Disney Co. teamed up with NYPR (New York Restoration
Project) and the local community in 2004 to transform this large
space into a community garden. Robert Cruz, coordinator of East
103rd Street Community Garden helped build this garden with the
money from NYRP. Since 2004, he has watched over various herbs,
trees, and flowers. The garden also includes a sports area and a
shaded picnic space. Now, this community garden is a great place
for people of East Harlem to spend time and get their hands
dirty.
