Language in the work environment – vowels matter – email etiquette.

Dress codes for work.

Your phone and the internet at work.

Deviance credit – what is it and how to build it.

challenges of the world of work or starting their own business.

I’ll touch on (1) finding your path, (2) initiating your journey, (3) keeping the motivation, (4) what to do when things get hard

and (5) setting yourself apart.

FUTURES THREADING: HOW WE ARE FRAMING THE FUTURE

There are many descriptions and prescriptions on the future or rather futures. To help navigate these and the related debates and

deliberations we can identify and explore the following themes for practical purposes:

(1) Techno fusion and utopianism;

(2) Techno diffusion and realism; and

(3) Tech as a social artefact.

The discussion of these themes focuses on how technology and its agency and impact are framed, the attendant policy and strategic

choices that follow from this, and how HR is framed and located. This provides an organising framework for exploring possible

strategic HR choices and approaches; and, thereby, proactive and adaptive responses.

Being an authentic leader in an entrepreneurial world

Finishing up formal studies is exciting and can have a great sense of liberation associated to it. That sense

of freedom and celebration can be short-lived though as the very next step follows shortly on the heels of

completing formal studies, namely, entering the workplace. Whether you have a position lined up, still

searching or intend to enter the entrepreneurial world, one thing is for sure, your success will to a large

extend be determined by your leadership ability. The authority and authenticity in which you step into any

new chapter in your career is vitally important.
