OUR EXPERIENCES
Retrospective and daily data collection without
modifications to the instrument.
Manuals are used in many hospitals to standardize
data collection.
The results are used to analyse the sizing of the
nursing staff.
NAS is being applied in other units, such as
gastroenterology, neonatal and high dependency
units.
DIFFICULTIES
Obtaining some information due to lack of nursing
activities records;
No common language between nurses (lack of
manuals and ongoing training);
In collecting data with shifts of 6 or 12 hours.
THE FUTURE
Creation of a National Database;
Elaboration of National and International multicenter
studies;
Development of studies utilizing the NAS as an
independent variable.
