Mayor's Foreword
Nunga Week is an opportunity to support the cultural, spiritual, health, emotional and economic
wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people in the region.
The City of PAE is situated on Kaurna Country and acknowledges the Kaurna people as the traditional
owners. We continue to recognise Aboriginal people as the first Australians, with a unique culture and spiritual
relationship to the land and sea that they have strived to retain through the period of non-indigenous settlement.
We recognise and celebrate Aboriginal culture across PAE and continue to showcase the local history and
achievements and experience the richness and diversity of the Aboriginal culture. We aim to increase Aboriginal
skill, knowledge and capability by encouraging community participation and opportunity that
increases and improves inclusion in our community.
We strive to create opportunities to involve community and provide adequate infrastructure
and access to services to build safer and more resilient communities.
Through increasing their voice and wellbeing we are developing stronger, more
cohesive, vibrant, and participatory community members who
can access cultural support to help them become
more connected.
