1. Guidance for competitive examinations:

The University has already started a Training & Placement Cell as directed by Honorable

Vice Chancellor.

The objective of the Cell is to introduce tutorials and coaching for aspirants of civil service

and other examinations like WBCS, WBFS, UPSC, IAS and WBSSC etc. Presently 50

candidates are enrolled in this course.

Various Financial assistance and scholarships from the Central and the State Govt. as well as

years the number of scholarships awarded (1673, 1828, 2239 and 2268 respectively),

including Minority scholarship, Oasis, Kanyashree, PWD scholarship, Chief Minister Fund

scholarship, SSY Scholarship, Vivekananda merit cum means scholarship, DST-INSPIRE

fellowship is also satisfactory. The University has an employment and placement officer. A

students’ counselling cell has also been made. The recreational facilities that are made

available to the students are fairly satisfactory. Data are attached with Annexure-I.

The Central and State govt. have also financial assistance for student in the last four years to

improve the University research work. Data are attached with Annexure-I.

3. Soft skill/skill development

During the revision of curricula inputs from eminent people working in different industry,

research body and civil society are included wherever possible. Technical seminars on the

subject concerned are organized with industry participation. Soft skill/skill development

workshops are organized with professonials. Some of these inputs have made impact on the

outcome of the revised syllabus.

The Central Library has a good number of computers with high speed internet facilities and

run computer skill development trainings. Department of Geography and Central library runs

various courses in GIS and basic courses in computer. The department of English conducts

some common on soft skill development and spoken English courses. The regular students,

those pursuing their graduation and post-graduation are eligible along with the passed out

students from University. This initiative is aimed at addressing communication skill,

personality and technology skill development for opportunities in voice and non-voice based

BPO business segments.

4. Remedial coaching

The University undertakes various programmes for slow learners through remedial classes,

scheme for students for entry in services, scheme of coaching for SET/ NET /GATE/ JAM

examinations. Data are attached with Annexure-II.

5. Language lab

Honorable Vice Chancellor desires to establish a Language Lab within our campus for the

benefit of the students mainly. University has already received few proposals from different

esteemed organizations to undertake the work.

We have already procured the relevant software and the training sessions have been arranged

for the facilitators. Students are utilizing the facility.

6. Sports, Yoga and Meditation:

The university have good facilities for promotion of sports. University has gymnasium and

yoga centres which are well-built and fairly managed central facilities, under the supervision

of Dr. Amit Kumar Mandal (Sport Officer) and Shri Debjoy Bhattacharjya (NCC Officer).

Students, enjoy multi-gym facilities under the guidance of the teachers and coaches

belonging to the above mentioned teachers. Besides almost all the department of residence

have indoor and outdoor sports facilities, newspaper, magazines and library facilities.

World Yoga Day on 21st June 2019

NCC unit, Raiganj University has observed World Yoga Day on 21st June 2019. In the

morning at 8.30 am start the program. The Registrar of RGU also present here. More than

250 members were participating in the Yoga. The venue of the program was University

ground. A rally was organized carrying a banner. The rally move University ground. The

Registrar, Dean (Faculty of Science and Management), Dean (Arts & Commerce Faculty),

Programme Co-Ordinator, NCC unit was also participate that rally. Few photograph of the

7. Personal Counselling

For personal and Career development each student is assessed and counselling is done on

individual basis. University provides free counselling, consultation and information to assist

individuals in self-understanding, career planning and problem solving, which is helpful to

motivate students so that student can improve their own skills. The management and head of

the institute collectively monitor the functioning of the Institute.

The candidates who qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship areeligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a relatedsubject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor. The universities, institutions,IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for full timeresearch work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them.

3. Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Scheduled Caste(SC)/ScheduledTribe(ST)/Persons with Disability(PwD)/ Transgender /Other Backward Classes -Noncreamy layer (OBC-NCL), as per the central list of Other Backward Classes availableon National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), Government of Indiawebsite: www.ncbc.nic.in, candidate will be given such special concessions as maybe decided by the UGC.

4. Candidates qualifying for the award of Junior Research fellowship will be eligibleto receive fellowship of UGC under various schemes, subject to their findingplacement in universities/IITs/institutions. The validity period of the offer is threeyears w.e.f. the date of issue of JRF Award Letter. However, in case the candidateswho have already joined M. Phil. / Ph.D., the date of commencement of fellowshipshall be from the date of declaration of NET result or date of their joining,whichever is late.
