Your TopTV decoder allows you to receive the most exciting TopTV packages on offer. A new world awaits, filled with the best entertainment. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to experience satellite TV for all.
The decoder receives and decodes satellite signals, controlled by a smart card which needs to be inserted into the right-hand side of the decoder.
A detailed functional diagram has been included to show you how easy it is to set up your decoder.

GETTING STARTEDYOUR TOPTV DECODER,
SETTING UP SO YOU CAN ENjOY TV jUST THE WAY YOU WANT IS REALLY EASY.
To start your TopTV viewing experience, please call us on 08600 TOPTV (86788) and have your smart card number, decoder serial number and your ID number available so that a friendly TopTV consultant can assist you. Your TopTV subscription fee is payable once your service has been activated. Our friendly TopTV consultant will tell you what the amount due is and when you need to make the payment.
YOU CAN PAY USING ANY OF THE FOLLOWING METHODS:

THE WARRANTY SHALL NOT APPLY:1) To damage caused to the decoder as a result of being modified or tampered with, in any way by any person other
than the manufacturer or a TopTV appointed agent or representative.2) If the product is used for any purpose other than that for which it was designed,

SAFETYMAINS SUPPLY
The TopTV decoder comes with an external 3-pin power supply. Ensure that the power supply has been plugged into the decoder before the mains are switched on.
VENTILATIONElectronic devices generate heat and should always be installed in well-ventilated areas. The decoder must not be
installed in an enclosed environment such as drawers, etc. Other equipment should not be stacked on top of the decoder obstructing ventilation.
The lifespan and operation of your TopTV decoder will last longer if installed in a well-ventilated area.
CLEANINGWhen the decoder is cleaned, care must be taken that liquid cleaners are not used to clean the outside of the decoder as
moisture will enter through the ventilation slots. Use a dry cloth instead.
LIGHTNINGAlthough the decoder power supply has been provided with surge protection, we suggest that additional protection
devices be installed in areas with high lightning activity.

SATELLITE DISH INSTALLATION
Satellite dish installation is a specialised field. TopTV has accredited various professional satellite system installers.Guidelines on installing satellite dishes have not been included in this manual.
SWITCHING ON DECODER / FIRST TIME OPERATION
CONNECTING YOUR TOPTV DECODER TO YOUR TV SET
•Connect RF Out to TV set RF In. You can also connect AV Output directly to TV set AV Input.
•The RF Output of other devices such as DVD players can also be connected to the decoder by plugging them in to the RF Input socket in the back.
•When using AV connections, the red RCA plug is used for right audio, white RCA plug for left audio and the yellow RCA plug is used for video.
•If your TV set is equipped with a S/PDIF connection, an optical digital audio connection is possible by connecting the cable to the decoder’s S/PDIF Out.
SWITCH ON
To switch on the decoder, press button (22) to switch to standby mode
and press button (22) again to power up the decoder.

TUNING THE DECODER
The decoder has been set to automatically tune to the required satellite. Your selected accredited satellite installation expert will ensure your TopTV decoder is set up properly. Please do not attempt to change the satellite tuning parameters by yourself
as this could cause your TopTV decoder to stop working properly.

MOST COMMONLY USED FUNCTIONSSTANDBY (22): Toggles between Standby and On.
CH+ (17) and CH- (19): Selecting channels up and down.
V+ (38) and V- (39): Volume up and volume down.
UP (34), DOWN (36), LEFT (15) and RIGHT (35) are used to navigate on the selected menus.
OK (14) is pressed when a particular function is to be selected.
BACK (30): Move back to previous selection.
EXIT (2): Move out of selected field to main programme.
TV/RADIO (10): Select between Radio and TV services.

USING THE RCU FUNCTIONS
MUTE (21): To mute the sound.
HELP (26): Will select the banner showing Now and Next events on the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG).
INFO (24): Will show the synopsis of the programme.
TV/RADIO (10): Will select between TV and Radio channels.TopTV will allow you to access several radio stations through your decoder.
PROGRAMME GUIDE (28): Will show the programme guide as per Channel Selection on the Menu screen, allowing you to access the programme guide quicker.
FAVOURITE (29): Show programmes selected as favourites.
REMINDER (13): Will allow you to set a reminder for a programme you want to watch.
MESSAGES (33): Will select current Broadcast Mail (Bmail) to be read.To read message, press and use RED button to delete Bmail.
SUBTITLES (32): Will indicate subtitles if available.
SOUNDTRACK (16): Allows the viewer to select preferred soundtrack if options are available.
MOSAIC (18): Selection of a Mosaic of channels on the bouquet. On earlier RCUs, this button is not marked but it is indicated as button no. 18 (the button between CH+ and V+).
Later models will have the icon for the Mosaic channels displayed on the RCU.
To move back from these selections, one can either press BACK (30) or EXIT (2). In various cases, it only requires the press of the button again to remove the function.

USING THE ELECTRONIC PROGRAMME GUIDE
NOW/NEXT BANNER
The Now/Next banner can be accessed by pressing the HELP button on the RCU. The Now/Next banner contains information about what is currently playing, what is
scheduled to start next and more.
Click the HELP button to display the Now/Next banner. To remove the banner from the screen, simply click on the HELP button again or wait a few seconds.
The time period for which the banner is displayed can be set by selecting MENU>SETTINGS>USER SETUP>NOTIFICATIONS.

Press MENU (see figure 6) to access the Menu options (see figure 5) of the EPG. The Menu options allow you to view the scheduling of programmes, set preferences,
read Bmails and more.
Use RCU navigation buttons (see figure 7) to scroll through Menu options.

In the Menu of the EPG, select the What’s On menu option by using the RCU navigation buttons and pressing .
The What’s On menu option allows you to view a list of channels. Use the RCU navigation buttons to scroll from Left to Right and from Top to Bottom. By scrolling
from Left to Right, you are viewing the Programmes that are scheduled to start.

While viewing the All Channels Guide in the What’s On menu option, you can use the RCU colour keys (see figure 9) to perform specific functions.
Press GREEN button to indicate genres. Select different genres with LEFT/RIGHT arrows. Press to select desired genre. To return to All Channels, press GREEN
button again, select All Channels and click .
Press BLUE button to see schedule for next 24 hours. Press YELLOW button to see schedule for previous 24 hours.
Press RED button to add selected channel to Favourites. Press RED button again to remove selected channel from Favourites.
To go back to previous menu, press BACK button.

Not all programmes are suitable for the younger members of the family. Parents can control access to these programmes through the use of the Parental Control setting.
Parents can block channels and/or block specific programmes with an unsuitable PG rating.

Not anybody should be allowed to make changes to the Parental Control setting. It is for this reason that the Parental Control setting is password protected. Using the RCU,
enter the default password (0000) if you haven’t specified your own password and then select Submit.

Select Channel Block to block the entire channel. Use this feature if all the programmes on a specific channel are not suitable for children.

Use the RCU navigation buttons to scroll to the desired channel that you would like to block. Once selected, press to place a tick next to the channel.
Once all desired channels have been blocked, press BLUE RCU colour key to apply the changes.

Set Ratings allow you to block specific programmes based on their PG rating. For example, if 13 is selected, all programmes with a rating higher than 13 will be
blocked (i.e. 16 and higher).

Use the RCU navigation buttons to scroll to the desired rating and press to place a tick next to the rating. Notice that all the ratings below the one selected will be
crossed out. This indicates that all ratings higher than the one you selected will be blocked.

Step 1: Using the RCU navigation buttons, scroll to the channel that you would like to
add as a favourite.
Step 2:Press button to place a tick next to the favourite channel. Once all favourite channels have been selected, select Apply Changes to save.

Select the preferred audio option. Dolby is the default audio option. Select PCM when using an analog audio output.
If the Video/Audio is out of sync, you can use the Audio delay option to increase the delay of the audio in milliseconds.
