Gearing up for the U15/Cadets NationalsOne of our big
challengers of the year - hosting the U15 and Cadets National
Championships - is drawing close.
Theres an AFF camp at Marrickville on Friday 5 July followed by
five days of competition which draws the best of Australias
emerging fencing talent. More than 300 young fencers will be taking
part. NSW will be making a strong showing with 88 entries, up on
last year. As well, fencers will be coming from other States, New
Zealand and Singapore.
It takes a major volunteer effort to present a competition of
this scale successfully, so if you are able and willing to help
out, please let us know: contact [email protected]
NSWFA Scores $10k GrantThe NSW Minister for Sport &
Recreation, Graham Annesley, has approved a grant of $10,000 to
NSWFA. The money is being used to purchase three new flexible
roll-up strips and a new scoring box that comes with repeaters so
it can be used for the finals piste for major competitions. Thanks
to Fundraising Co-ordinator Tanya Buchanan for her good work on the
grant application. The roll-up strips from Leon Paul will allow us
to upgrade the set-up for schools competitions as he strips can be
used with a minimum of time and effort. The high-tech material from
which the pistes are made must be used with care in case the strip

For years, I couldnt understand why some people just naturally
loved salads and as much as I tried and as gourmet as my salads
got, I still always saw salad as a garnishback-up food, in case I
was still hungry after eating all the good stuff on my plate.
Finally, a friend introduced me to eating for my blood type. It
turns out that your blood type affects whether you need more
greens, can process meat protein easily or if you should be eating
carbs. The no-carbs/low-carbs fads are great.for some people!
This month, ditch the latest one-size-fits-all health craze,
find out your blood type and go to
