School fencers representing NSW at the National Schools Championships in Brisbane covered themselves in glory, as the Team Manager, Phil Mansfield, reports.

What a great championship for NSW Fencing!

The venue, Yeronga State High School Sport Centre in Brisbane, is a great facility accommodating six pistes, a separate area for gear and room for spectators.

Competition started early on Saturday morning with our epeeists battling the Queenslanders. The Senior and Intermediate Womens %PEEWERECOMBINEDINTOONEPOULEWITH%LIZABETH$UFFAND3OPHIEMeredith battling it out in the final. After an epic see-sawing battle, 3OPHIEWON%MILY0RINCIPETOOKHOMEGOLD IN )NTERMEDIATE7OMENS%PEE)NTHE-ENS)NTERMEDIATE%PEE*OHN4IANWONOVER6ICTORIAN'ABESpano with Isaac Hayes and Mark Morris sharing third.

Senior Boys Sabre blitzed Queensland with Matthew Tadros winning over Boston Fawkes in another all - NSW final and Harrison May taking third place. The Intermediate Mens Sabre was won convincingly by James Siu over a Queenslands Grant Stevenson WITH0ATRICK%LLEMTAKINGTHEBRONZEWomens Sabre saw a much harder competition with Olivia Tadros just missing out in getting through to the final and taking bronze.

Day two and our foilists rolled into town. Our senior girls battled hard with Claire Graham-White fencing Queenslands Alicia Kwag in the final. Claire was victorious with a good win - 15/12 - and Rebekah Shiba finished with a bronze. The intermediate girls gave a strong account of themselves with Alice Heraud dominating the

Senior Mens Foil was won by Alexander Mei in a great display of fencing with Adam Chew and Max Schultz taking the bronze. In Intermediate Mens Foil, Gregory Lam and Matthew DallAsen showed great patience in their final with Gregory winning out 8/6 after three periods, Theo Cooper-Brown finished with bronze.

NSW teams were also dominant, winning 7 of the 9 teams events. What a great sight seeing the podiums dominated by NSW fencers.

For years, I couldnt understand why some people just naturally loved salads and as much as I tried and as gourmet as my salads got, I still always saw salad as a garnishback-up food, in case I was still hungry after eating all the good stuff on my plate.

Finally, a friend introduced me to eating for my blood type. It turns out that your blood type affects whether you need more greens, can process meat protein easily or if you should be eating carbs. The no-carbs/low-carbs fads are great.for some people!

This month, ditch the latest one-size-fits-all health craze, find out your blood type and go to www.fit-a-cino.com.au#LICKONTHEMUFTICOLOUREDTABLEUNDER@PRESENTEDBYTOlNDOUTWHATYOUSHOULDREALLYBEEATING7EVEALSOINCLUDEDAlarger version of the table in our photos for easy reference.
