Kids Teaching Kids Conference

Students from Year 5 have been working hard

to prepare a presentation for the Landcare’s

Kids Teaching Kids Conference. The students

had to find out information on a creature of

the Lachlan Catchment and present this

information to approximately 40 students.

Georgia, Jessica H, Jessica K, Jackson and

Yousuf worked together to find out why bees

are an important part of our daily lives and

how we can help to look after their

environment. Students researched information

in books, on the internet, collected resources

from home as well as listened to guest

speaker, Mr Forde. Mr Forde visited Wombat

Public and spent time with the Year 5 students

explaining a bee’s lifecycle, habitat and

working roles before joining with the rest of

the school to share the importance of bees in

the environment. Students were very

interested in the discussion and were each

thrilled to receive a sample pot of honey to

take home (not that many jars made it home

full!) On Friday Georgia, Jessica, Jackson and

Yousuf then travelled by bus to Forbes with

students from Monteagle Public and Young

Public School to attend the conference. The

day included listening to other schools

presentations, an aboriginal session with

students listening to didgeridoo music and

flying boomerangs, a visit from the Zoomobile

from Dubbo Zoo and presenting our media

presentation to the group. All students

enjoyed the experience and are looking

forward to creating their next project

together.

School Assembly

The first assembly for Term 2 will be held this

Friday 3rd June at 2:15pm. The assembly will

take place in the music room in the

administration building. All family and

community members are invited to attend.

Library

The children continue to enjoy their library

lessons with Mrs Bolger. Could parents please

help their children to remember to return their

library books each week. Children are

encouraged to use a bag to help protect the

library books that they take home.

Meeting

Our next meeting will be held this Friday, 3rd

June at 9:15am.

Chocolates

If you have any chocolates that you know you

are unable to sell, please return them to school

so that we can arrange for someone else to sell

them.

Thank you
