A11NSB 72 316L SS H13
NSB 72 has corrosion resistance when exposed to a salt fog environment5. It performs equal to 316L stainless steel and is superior to hardened 420 stainless steel (51 HRC).5 ASTM G85-A2 cyclic acidi ed salt fog test for 168 hr (modi ed ASTM B117)
In stock – 25 lb containers or bulk quantity upon request.
Availability
NSB 72 has high resistance to pitting in an acidi ed ferric chloride solution. This alloy has an exceptionally high critical pitting temperature of 85° C according to ASTM G48 Method E.

NSB 72 has low resistance to intergranular attack6 in comparison to 304L and 316L.
Intergranular Corrosion
6 ASTM A262 Method B and C
NSB 72 cyclic potentiodynamic polarization7 (CPP) curves demonstrate higher corrosion resistance than 304L and 316L stainless steel. The CPP curve shows a small amount of hysteresis which indicates that very little permanent damage (e.g. pitting) occurs during the test.
7 ASTM G61 – conducting cyclic potentiodynamic polarization measurements for localized corrosion susceptibility of iron-, nickel- or cobalt-based alloys
