Managed well, in protected natural areas, planted forests, pastures, and agroecosystems, carbon accumulation in soils could stop the annual increase in CO2 in the atmosphere. In this course we will 1. Explore the overarching controls on soil carbon, 2. Read and derive data from published literature for entry into an international database designed to network the current state, vulnerabilities and opportunities of soil organic matter, and 3.
