NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Instructor The NRA Instructor Training Course is designed for experienced shooters how to teach others to shoot using NRA lesson plans and training methods. This 16-20 hour course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Pistol Shooting course. The course is not designed to improve your shooting skills. Pre-course Requirements: Attendance to NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course, skills assessment on safety, loading and unloading pistols, and a shooting qualification Instructional topics include: • NRA Basic Instructor training • NRA policies • Teaching methods • Basic pistol shooting instructional method • Teaching lessons • Evaluating and improving • Performance of beginning pistol shooters Prerequisite: • Attendance of NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course. • Good firearms safety and shooting skills • Pass a pre-course assessment Students will receive: • NRA Trainers Guide • Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook • NRA’s Gun Safety Rules brochure • NRA Course completion card • NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Instructor lesson plans Students will need: • Flash drive • 200 rounds of ammo • Notepad • Pen or pencil COST: $300 NRA Certified Instructors are shooters who teach others “how to Shoot.” The goal of the Instructor program is to train experienced shooters “how to teach” NRA Basic firearms courses.
