Welcome to FNQ’s largest field days

THE Atherton Tablelands is a very proud agricultural area.

Our past has been built on farming. Today it remains central to our communities and it will, without doubt, be the foundation stone of our future.

Our farming families across the region provide an enormous range of top-qual-ity produce whether it is sug-ar cane, bananas, potatoes, dairy, beef, mangoes, avo-cadoes, pumpkins, maize or any of our other crops.

We are geographically diverse, from the cooler, wetter, hillier dairy districts around Malanda and Mil-

laa Millaa to the drier, more open grazing properties in our west and from the "gold-en triangle" around Kairi/Tol-ga to the Mareeba-Dimbulah Irrigation Area.

Of course, each crop or herd has its own issues, its own good and bad seasons and so on. So events like this are a wonderful way for bringing together all of the best of the district in a terrific showcase.

It’s a chance to see the latest developments, learn the latest research findings, see the newest methods and talk to the experts.

And it is an exceptional

chance for Tablelanders and visitors who might not be fully aware of the scope and complexity that is agriculture today to come and have a look for themselves.

The Rotary FNQ Field Days, a combined project of the Atherton and Mareeba Rotary Clubs, has gone from strength to strength and this year will be the biggest ever.

There are more than 260 exhibitor sites booked, with participants coming from all over Australia as well as lo-cally.

Welcome to what I am sure will be an outstanding event.

a message from tablelands regional Council Mayor rosa lee long

With Collin MesservyChairman Rotary FNQ Field Days Committee THE 2013 Rotary FNQ Field Days have ob-viously hit a chord with local and interstate businesses.

Every year our bookings increase and we have trouble meeting the demand for exhibit sites. In our new home at Kerribee Park, just a few minutes west of Mareeba on the Chillagoe Road, we have excellent facilities courtesy of the very supportive Mareeba Ro-deo Association and our strategic partners, Mareeba Mazda and Bendigo Bank.

But what makes the whole event a great success is the tremendous turnout of farm-ers, horticulturists, graziers, hobby farmers, miners, service and support people and the general Tableland and far northern commu-nities.

So my committee is dedicated to ensur-ing that this year’s event will be bigger and better than any previous Field Day with more exhibitors, more items of interest and more engaging entertainment than ever before.

For the first time in the north we are hold-ing a vintage Tractor Pull competition in ad-dition to the vintage engine display, wood

chopping, children’s playground and almost 40 market stalls.

Cattle exhibitors are pleased with their new home in the Rodeo Association’s pens to the east of the main display - just across the main arena.

As the Field Days grow and grow, thanks to the loyal and willing support of our exhibi-tors and the tremendous response we re-ceive from the local and not so local visitors, we have had to take the step of appointing for the first time a part time Event Coordina-tor, Lesa Pershouse.

Lesa has worked tirelessly since she took the reins and in the past month, it is more than a full time job and we all, the committee, the exhibitors and visitors owe her a debt of gratitude for a job well done.

Also to be congratulated for an excellent job is out marketing guru, Jeanette Sturiale. Jeanette has worked hard and long to put to-gether the best exhibitor guide we have ever had and the most sophisticated marketing program we have ever undertaken.

I’d like to express my appreciation to the hard working committee members who man-age the total event in a cooperative, friendly and efficient manner. They are nearly all Ro-tarians from either Atherton or Mareeba clubs

who have work, family and other community commitments, but still make a wonderful contribution to the success of the event.

As we did in 2011, entry tickets to the Field Days can be bought in advance from selected outlets in Atherton and Mareeba or by contacting Travel Experience.com on 4092 4222 and paying by credit card. The art union will be drawn at 4pm on Thursday, May 30 at the Field Days.

This ticket not only gains you entry to the Field Days on both days of the event you are automatically eligible to win a Mazda CX 5 FWD Wagon worth over $31,000, not to mention the great second prize of a quad bike from Atherton Mowers and Chainsaws for him and a jewellery voucher from Mara-ma Jewellery worth $3,000 for her. If you are lucky enough to win third prize you can take a well earned, all expenses paid holiday to New Zealand courtesy of Travel Experience.com valued at over $3,000.

Don’t miss out, buy your tickets early and we’ll see you at the Rotary FNQ Field Days where all the proceeds are returned to the community through the Tablelands (Atherton and Mareeba) Rotary Clubs.

2013 rotary fnq field days mAy 29-30

THE 2013 Field Days event will bring a first time attrac-tion for the region, a Tractor Pull demonstration. Vintage and classic tractors will go up against a purpose built weight transfer sled, each tractor pulling the sled as far as possible along a 100 metre track.

This attraction is a very much welcomed addition to the event, and we are expecting a great response from the spectators. Tractor Pulls are extremely popular at southern events, often drawing huge crowds coming to see the tractors of yesteryear in all their glory going head to head against the sled.

The classes range in 10hp increments from 20 to 80 hp and your tractor must fit into the vintage (manufac-tured 1959 or earlier) or the classic (manufactured 1960 to 1973) guidelines to be eligible to nominate for this event. There is also a static display area for any tractor

enthusiast wishing to simply display their antique tractor, without having to hook to the sled.

The sub-committee representative Ruth Maisel, is working with the field days committee to make this first time attraction come to life. We are calling for nomina-tions to enter your tractor in either the pulling event or static display (nomination forms and rules available at www.fnqfielddays.org.au). For more information on nom-inations please contact Ruth Maisel by phone on 0417 629 208 or by email at [email protected] All visitors are welcome to the field days to see the tractors pulling at 10.30am and 2.00pm on each day.A gold coin donation entry to the tractor pull area is requested, with all funds going towards Ruth’s team in the 2013 Tablelands Relay for Life.

Sponsors make event successEVENTS such as the field days are not possible without the support and commitment of sponsors.

This year heralds a new era of sponsorship for the Rotary FNQ Field Days with two Tableland businesses climbing on board as strate-gic partners.

Under the exclusive ar-rangement, Mareeba Mazda and Bendigo Community Bank® Mareeba, Dimbulah and Ravenshoe and Atherton branch have made a signifi-cant investment in the event through donations of cash and value-added services

and products. The pair share a passion

to help the grow the event, recognising not only its future potential but also the impor-tant investment it returns to the community.

But the strategic partners are not alone in supporting the region's largest and most comprehensive agricultural field day. Other Tableland-based businesses sponsor in various ways, enjoying the benefits of exposure to thou-sands of potential customers and indirectly contributing to making a better life for their communities.

In order to bring in more

local produce and grow-ers, the Co-op has set up an Approved Grower Pro-gram for local small grow-ers who are not nationally certified.

PGG Wrightson Seeds have been working with Australian farmers to deliver great re-sults on the land for 75 years.

PGG Wrightson Seeds offer a wide range of tropical, subtropcial and temperate seeds for a variety of faming operations.

So what makes PGG Wrightson Seeds tropical and subtropical seed different from the rest?

The answer is simply Envirogro®. Enviro-gro® is a special cleaning treatment process called Envirogro which removes the seed kernel from the husk of the bare seed. This reduces weed seed and other waste material in the final product. The result is improved seed quality, less seed inactivity and better seed flow during sowing. The business will have two sites at this year's event – G26 and G27 and looks forward to welcoming visitors.

GuLF Western Oil is the largest Australian-owned manufacturer of lubricants and is proud to supply some of nation's biggest farming, heavy industrial and mining clients.

Australian owned and oper-ated, the 25-year-old com-pany was started by the Vi-cary family - father Peter and sons Ben and Andrew.

Gulf Western products are formulated specifically for Australian and Pacific Rim conditions and are cer-tified to the highest perform-ance standards.

No recycled oil is used in any formulations and all products are blended using API (American Petroleum Institute) approved additive packages.

Gulf Western manufac-tures it’s lubricants in its own blend plant under an ISO 9001 quality endorsed man-ufacturing system.

All Gulf Western prod-ucts are backed by a Seal of Quality and product guaran-tee.

Gulf Western has grown into a multi million litre or-ganisation with an extensive distributor network through-out all states of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, New Cal-edonia and the Pacific Rim.

The company is heav-ily involved in all types of motor sport including Nitro Drag racing, V8 Supercars, Club cars, Circuit boats and Bikes.

Motor racing provides one of the most demanding environments possible to continually improve lubrica-tion technology and compo-nent protection.

Visitors to the field days will be able to see first hand the Gulf Western Oil Super-charged Ute which will be on display on Gulf Western Oil Distributor sites H19 to 22.

Gulf Western has de-veloped a reputation “for

problem solving” products, responsive personal service and very competitive pricing and continues to rapidly gain customer approval and mar-ket share.

From humble beginnings a quarter of a century ago, the Vicarys are taking Gulf Western Oil to the next level, with construction underway on a new manufacturing fa-cility at St Marys, in western Sydney.

The new production plant should be completed by the end of May/early June, with the new facility expected to be up and running by the third quarter of 2013 and will be the most advanced in the country.

The new plant will have the capacity to manufacture 60 million litres of lubricant each year - more than dou-ble the current working ca-pacity of the business - and signals an exciting new era for the family company.

Company part owner Andrew Vicary said agricul-ture was one of its biggest sectors, along with heavy transport and the industrial markets.

"We sell into the agricul-tural market through a dealer network, as well as direct to farm,” he said.

"That market covers all of Australia."

Mr Vicary said they were always looking to increase their presence in the agricul-tural market. “We do every-thing catering for the machin-ery for the guy with a 10,000 acre property, through to a small hobby farmer,” he said.

The new $10 million facil-ity will feature 32 stainless steel storage and blending tanks.

It will cover a total of 5500 square metres and will allow them to increase the bulk ad-ditive storage by 180 tonnes and a base oil capacity by 1120 tonnes.

Mr Vicary said the current

facility in Penrith was close to manufacturing capac-ity while the warehouse had also outgrown its capacity.

“Due to the high level of volume growth we have been experiencing, it has been necessary to have a lot of raw materials stored off site and that doesn’t suit our model for growth into the future,” he said.

Aside from the agricul-tural and industrial markets in Australia, Gulf Western Oil markets its products to New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Come and see Gulf West-ern Oil on site at the Ro-tary FNQ Field Days for promotional specials and free giveaways.

TABLELAND Batteries and NQ Mining Sup-plies are moving to bigger and better premis-es at Tolga.

The business will take shape at 2 Lawson Street opposite the Tolga Hotel in a bigger and brighter shed.

The expansion will allow owners Cameron and Jamie an opportunity to unveil their ex-tensive battery and mining supplies product range in a one-stop shop, with easy access and plenty of parking.

They hope to be in the new premises mid-year and will have the whole gamut of bat-teries and mining safety equipment, general consumables, cleaning chemicals, glues and sprays ,safety boots, workwear, auto electri-cal parts and accessories, on display and available.

Cameron and Jamie understand that time means money.

That's why they specialise in finding those parts that are difficult to locate.

Tableland Batteries deal exclusively in Delkor and also sell their own Tableland Bat-teries range.

Delkor use a GM-patented gas/liquid sepa-rator and have the lowest self-discharge rate, making it the most convenient, maintenance-free battery for consumer usage.

Furthermore, Delkor MF batteries contain calcium, tin and lead, making them highly resistant to corrosion, and last up to 3 times longer than the competition.

Tableland Batteries sales manager Gary Pritchard visits Innisfail and Tully fortnightly and offers a weekly sales and delivery serv-ice on the Tablelands, Cairns, Mossman and Port Douglas.

The business branched out into mining supplies about 18 months ago after Cam-eron, an experienced auto-electrician of more than 20 years, recognised a need for qual-ity products and reliable service, particularly for heavy earthmoving equipment associated with the mining industry.

NQ Mining Supplies uses computerised diagnostics including CAT-ET, CAT-SIS, Cummins Insite and Scan Tools to pinpoint the problem, with qualified and experienced tradesmen able to carry out onsite repairs and servicing.

They service and provide products to min-ing companies from Moranbah in the Bowen Basin to Cape York.

All equipment is at current mine specifica-tions, with safety and reliability the number one priority.

The new premises will also boast a train-ing room, a place which will help fill a gap on the Tablelands for local residents wanting to gain the necessary qualifications to work in the mining industry.

AS a regional Queensland electricity distributor, Ergon Energy works hard to raise electrical safety awareness in the community and change behaviours and attitudes of our customers.

Ergon Energy, in conjunction with Dial Before you Dig (DBYD), will continue to ensure our communities are always safe around electricity and electrical assets.

"We understand the devastating con-sequences that contact with powerlines can have – not only on the people in-volved, but on their loved ones too," said Community Health and Safety Advisor Glen Cook.

"So far, the 2012/2013 financial year has seen 33 safety incidents, major in-dustry breakdowns in Far North Queens-land.

"So we urge you to please, take care when operating heavy machinery around overhead and underground powerlines and always remember to “Look up and Live”."

Please take the time to read this valu-able information about some of the po-tential dangers of powerlines for opera-tors of machinery including excavators, tractors, aerial applicators, harvesters and users of scaffolding equipment, irri-gators or ladders.

Practise safe work habits:• know where powerlines, power

poles, pillar boxes and stays are located on your property.

• identify all electrical hazards, assess the risks, establish and introduce control measures and review control

measures periodically, control measures may include but may not be restricted to:

• visual indicators such as flag markers fitted to powerlines (contact Er-gon Energy for advice).

• ground barriers where possible. • informing workers of required

work practices. • ensure required exclusion zone

clearances between machinery and overhead powerlines are maintained.

• assign a safety observer to each work team when working in the vi-cinity of powerlines.

• investigate solutions and rem-edy current hazardous asset locations.

• lower machinery to the trans-port position when relocating from pad-dock to paddock and farm to farm.

• give consideration to operation-al exclusion zone clearances when build-ing new paddocks and sidings to keep safe distances away from powerlines.

• carry out maintenance and stor-age activities well away from powerlines.

• know where underground cables are. Request your plans at www.1100.com.au

MEMBERS of the Rotary FNQ Field Days committee will cross the Tasman next month to learn from the organisers of the largest field days in the southern hemisphere.

In 2011, a mentoring relationship started when Jenny Cave, a representative from the New Zealand National Agricultural Fieldays, visited the FNQ Field Days at Walkamin.

Referred to as "Fieldays", the New Zea-land event is held at the Mystery Creek Events Centre at Hamilton in the New Zea-land's North Island.

The NZ Agricultural Fieldays was started by a group of influential men from Waikato in 1969 at the Te Rapa Racecourse.

The first event attracted about 15,000 people. The event was moved to Mystery Creek in 1971.

Rotary Club of Mareeba member Jean-ette Sturiale, who is part of the FNQ group heading across the Tasman, said Ms Cave

was impressed with what she saw in the field days and presented to both Rotary clubs on the key indicators of success for their New Zealand event.

"This sparked much interest amongst our Rotary clubs and the field days committee so in 2012 two representatives from the Rotary FNQ Field Days travelled to visit and see how the New Zealand event was operated," Mrs Sturiale said.

"Its success prompted use to send more representatives and so a group of us is head-ing over to see how our Tasman cousins do it.

"The committee is prepared to invest in our event's future and there is no better way to facilitate this than by taking an opportunity to learn from the organisers of the largest field days the southern hemisphere."

Mrs Sturiale said the group would use the visit to learn more about the marketing and

promotion of field days and how sponsors and key stakeholders contribute to their suc-cess.

"We are looking to develop and grow our own recipe for success in terms of marketing this event," she said.

"The potential for the event to grow is end-less but we are keen to ensure any future decisions and actions are maximised to their full potential, like our New Zealand cousins have done."

The New Zealand field days offers 98 acres of exhibition and demonstration space and 170 acres of car parking.

The 43rd New Zealand National Agricul-tural Fieldays in 2011 attracted more 117,000 people across four days.

The event offers a multitude of rural events and activities to keep the whole fam-ily entertained, like tractor pull competitions and fencing championships.

For something different, there's offers an Ag Art Wear show, innovations centre and Festival of Logging alongside extreme air displays, cuisine demonstrations, machinery exhibitions and stock handling.

Visit from across the Tasman to learn from the best

HEARING loss is a preva-lent issue in the community.

According to Australian Hearing’s Trudie Causer, it affects one in six Australians and 60 per cent of people over 60.

Ms Causer, Manager at Australian Hearing Cairns and Atherton, says hearing loss generally occurs gradu-ally and it’s often family or friends who notice it first.

“Many people say they can hear but they can’t un-derstand. They may com-plain that everyone mumbles or have difficulty following

conversations in noisy plac-es,” Ms Causer said. “Sim-ple things, like turning up the TV or having trouble hearing the phone ring are often the early warning signs.

“If you’ve thought about your hearing but haven’t done anything, a 15 minute hearing check is all it takes to give you peace of mind. And if you are having hear-ing problems, there are many products and services available to help you.”

If you are concerned about you hearing and want to find out more, come and

talk to Aus-tralian Hear-ing at this year’s field days. You’ll find them at site C5, where you can chat with lo-cal staff about a range of hearing issues and find out about products to make eve-ryday hearing easier.

Attendees can also book an appointment for a free hearing check at Austral-ian Hearing’s local centre.

PACIFIC Fasteners and Hydraulics is bringing its Hydra Bagger Banana bag-ging machine and its range of Metabo power tools to this year's field days.

The Metabo area manager will also be on-site to answer questions about this great range of products and will help you select the right tool for your needs.

Whilst the Hydra Bagger Mobile Ele-vated Work Platform is primarily designed for the banana industry, it is also suitable for most other types of orchard work. It is a four-wheel drive, two-wheel steer, all terrain machine with an overall length of 4.85m and a width of 1.96m.

The MEWP is powered by a powerful Kubota 40 HP, 4 cylinder diesel engine that operates a hydro-static drive system. Reaching top speeds of 15kph in the low-ered boom position, speed is then reduced automatically upon the operator raising the boom to a height of 1.5m or above.

It has a unique patented suspension system using torsion bars linking the front and rear axels together giving superior handling capabilities and the smoothest ride on the market. This also gives the machine added stability when working on uneven terrain allowing safe incline capa-bilities of up to 15 degrees.

A video showing field demonstrations of the Hydrabagger travelling over rough terrain will be on display at site I10.

The graziers were in desperate need for feed for the cattle and this distribution of appeal funds not only saved the lives of the cattle but also the livelihood of graziers who ensure we can all have food on our tables.

It didn’t take long for David Mete to realise where his future lay. After completing secondary school in Mareeba, David entered the automotive industry, taking a position for a Tableland dealership.“Apart from being able to drive some really nice cars, this industry offers you something different, every day,” David said.“You get to meet some really nice people and develop customers for life.”David moved to the Mareeba Mazda dealership in 2005 and worked with owners Tito Srhoj and Kevin Day on a succession plan that saw him take over the business in 2007.Tito had established the business in 1972 as a used car lot before expanding to include the Mazda brand and then Mitsubishi in 1984, the same year he welcomed Kevin as a partner.Several years ago, David realised the business had outgrown its 200 Byrnes Street location and began the search for bigger and better premises. In early 2010, he purchased a former bakery and vacant block at 313-315 Byrnes Street, Mareeba at auction.“We worked hard at fi nding a suitable location, one that would continue to provide the exposure that the previous main street location had and that would allow us to develop the business,” David explained.“Space and plenty of it was also critical.”David is conscious of the important role the community has played in helping Mareeba Mazda develop.“We sell a lot of cars locally and are fortunate to enjoy repeat business,” David said. “We wouldn’t have been able to expand the business without the support of the local community.“In return, we went out of our way to give the community an opportunity to be a part of the redevelopment, through supply of trades and materials.”Two and a half years later, the new-look Mareeba Mazda was unveiled in February 2013.“Its a one-stop shop,” David explained.“You can buy your car, you can fi nance you car and you can get your car serviced with parts in stock - its all under one roof and there’s nothing we really can’t do.”The dealership is supported by a team of 16 staff including long-serving employees Peter Acha (29 years) and Robert Quintieri (24 years).Mareeba Mazda is a huge supporter of the Mareeba community, having been a key sponsor of the Mareeba Rodeo for many years. It donates tens of thousands of dollars every year to various charities and organisations. The Rotary FNQ Field Days represents a new era for Mareeba Mazda as its the fi rst time that the dealership has taken a lead role in the Field Days.Mareeba Mazda is one of two strategic partners who have signed up to help take the event to the next level.

This year, Mareeba Mazda is also sponsoring the Art Union, with a Mazda CX5 MAXX FWD 6-Speed Manual Wagon valued at $31,293 including12 months registration and delivery fees from Mareeba Mazda as themajor prize.“When the committee announced this year’s event would be held at Kerribee Park it sparked an interest,” David said. “Having been involved with the rodeo for many years, I know what that location can do for an event.“I believe its got huge potential to grow and am excited that Mareeba Mazda can be part of that growth.”Mareeba Mazda will have the Mazda vehicle range, in particularly the BT50s, on display at the fi eld days.

COOK Shire is one of the most diverse and picturesque regions of Queensland.

Cooktown sits at the foot of Mt Cook, at the heart of the mag-nificent Endeavour River and just a stone's throw to the Great Barrier Reef.

The Cook Shire communi-ties of Cooktown and Laura are open all year round with fully sealed access. Visit between the months of December and March to find that many natural elements come alive with activ-ity and beauty. Creeks are full of fish, plants are thriving, the birds are in abundance and you may even be lucky enough to spot the elusive Bennett’s Tree Kan-garoo in its natural habitat. With the barramundi season open in February, those with a passion for fishing will find Cooktown the perfect spot to ‘bag a barra’.

Cooktown offers something for everyone. A unique history began in 1770 with the arrival of James Cook and then 100 years later with the Palmer River gold rush. Step back in time as you stroll down the main street. There are museums, heritage buildings, traditional old pubs,

an Historical Society that houses a fascinating display from the early days or visit the Boathouse where the Re-enactment Asso-ciation has celebrated the arrival of Captain Cook for the past 53 years. Get out and about at the numerous beaches, waterfalls and magnificent bushwalking trails that Cook Shire communi-ties have to offer, including one of the oldest Botanic Gardens in Queensland.

For the adventurous folk there are fishing trips to the reef or up rivers, take a croc spotting tour or visit some authentic Aboriginal rock art sites. Or why not sim-ply relax, sit back, and watch the sunset over the Endeavour Riv-er from the newly redeveloped Grassy Hill lookout – truly the most stunning 360 degree views.

Come and explore the beauty of Cook Shire all year round. Take an easy four hour drive from Cairns or 45 minutes by plane to arrive in a truly unique destination.

"Our first contact with QES was an enquiry about solar power, as with everyone always looking at ways of reducing the power bill, especially as we are getting older. Anyway appointment made with

a sales rep, Michael Price whom we found extremely helpful and showed us a great video on the product and how it all works. We were very impressed and signed up there and then for 12 panels etc.

"The office ladies gave me a welcome call and explained the process to follow as well as kept me informed regarding the instal-lation date. The guys who came and did the installation were also great, very professional and help-ful and explained everything to me very simply and answered all my questions without getting im-patient. Since then have had two power bills both with nothing to pay!! So well done to the sales rep who obviously, through his home-work and experience, got us the right system. Since then we have had an air-conditioner installed. Same pleasant experience." An-drin Wilson, Whiterock, Cairns.

“At first, we had looked into an-other Solar Company in Cairns. They signed us up, put up a sign at the front of our home, and then

we heard nothing for over a year. Then an advertisement in The

Cairns Post caught our eye. It was Queensland Enviro Solu-tions. The contact by the office, right from the start where they booked the appointment for the energy assessment, to the final courtesy call was consistent and prompt.

The office kept in contact with us during the process and kept us up to date regarding any changes. Our installer, Joggie had a very clean and tidy appearance and was friendly from the time he first knocked on our door, right up until weeks after the installation, when he calls to see how it’s all going. The installation happened a week earlier than scheduled; this was great – particularly after we had waited a year previously!" Craig and Colleen Benson, Edmonton.

The Blue Leg is a PVC vinyl leg cover with the added protec-tion of a padded knee and shin area.

It was invented two years ago for the cattle industry to use when dehorning cattle.

The PVC vinyl protects the leg from being covered in blood and the fl ap over the boots stops the blood from getting in your boot. The padded knee and shin section protects that

area from bruising and cuts when dehorning.

Damien developed the leg after a similar design was brought to his attention by Lincoln and Don Condon, Conjuboy Station, Greenvale. Kidston Canvas has modifi ed it to cover Workplace Health and Safety needs.

The leg has design clips around the waist  and behind the legs with fast release buckle to take it on and off.

ATHERTON Mower and Chainsaw celebrates its 6th birthday at the FNQ Rotary Field Days and welcomes vis-itors to join in the festivities.

Whether you need a ride-on mower to tackle the three-week long lawn, a quad bike to check the fences or a gen-erator as a back up electricity supply, Atherton Mower and Chainsaw offers a complete sales, parts and repair serv-ice for all small engines.

Owners Stewart and Rachel Grandcourt lead a team of skilled experts who understand the needs of the Tableland and Far North Queensland community when it comes to small engines, so much so that the range of equipment has been hand-selected to meet the region's unique environmental and cli-matic conditions.

Boasting the largest small engine product range on the Tablelands, Atherton Mowers and Chainsaw deal exclu-sively with some of the most

trusted small engine makes in Australia.

They stock Honda, Husq-varna and Greenfield prod-ucts in all things small engine – ride-on mowers, push mow-ers, chainsaws, brushcutters and whipper snippers, but to name a few.

As certified agents for the three, Atherton Mower and Chainsaw staff keep abreast of the latest industry develop-ments through technical and sales training.

Along with sales, Atherton Mower and Chainsaw staff are also trained to carry out all routine maintenance and repairs - a key point of dif-ference that sets them apart from other small engine retail-ers.

"We keep most of the wear parts for our major brands in stock so customers can be assured that repairs can be carried out swiftly, efficiently," Rachel said.

Atherton Mower and Chainsaw use its buying

power on genuine parts to achieve savings for the cus-tomer.

Now not all customers are seasoned users of small en-gines so the staff from Ather-ton Mower and Chainsaw are happy to oblige. They offer complete product training on purchases to ensure custom-ers walk out confident with their purchase and how to use it.

The first service is free on all power equipment and there is a pick up and deliv-ery service across the Table-lands.

Recognising a gap in the market, Atherton Mower and Chainsaw expanded their product line several years ago into the ATV market and now offer a complete range of KYMCO ATVs from their Tolga Road showroom.

The Grandcourts are en-thusiastic supporters of the local community and, as members of the Atherton Ro-tary Club, have been attend-

ing the field days for many years.

"We know the good work that volunteer-run organisa-tions like Rotary do for the community so it was a natural step for us to join the Atherton club and become involved in its fundraising work," Rachel explained.

Atherton Mower and Chainsaw also offer an online store, so you can purchase from the comfort of your home.

Atherton Mower and Chainsaw is sponsoring a prize - a $4000 MXU 150 Quad bike - in the field days art union and have tickets available for sale at their site 16 and 17.

Atherton Mower and Chainsaw will have an exten-sive range of Honda genera-tors, mowers, brushcutters and quad bikes on display.

expanded rapidly as products were sourced directly from the best manufacturers overseas and locally. The Rack’n Stack Warehousenow has branches in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, North Brisbane, Darwin and Alice Springs.

A visit to a Rack’n Stack Warehouse showroom will open your eyes to the many options available in storage.

performance. The Rack’n Stack Warehouse

has developed an environment where the customers’ needs, wants and aspirations are not only met, but exceeded.

By getting shelving or racking professionally installed customers can be sure they are making use of every inch of available storage space. The quick and efficient service means minimal disruption to day to day operations and comfort in that the system will be safe and cost effective.

TGB ATV’s introduce Australia’s first ‘Crosso-ver” tray back ATV, the Blade 550 AR IRS 4x4, at this year's field days.

This exciting new mod-el in the line-up of TGB ATV’s is based on the Blade 550 IRS 4x4 featur-ing the same high quality components.

The drive has been taken care of by a mod-ern liquid cooled 4-stroke single cylinder engine with 503cc displacement. In combination with the full automatic C.V.T. with High/Low Range, Neu-tral, Reverse & Engine Braking the engine deliv-ers high performance with low fuel consumption.

Assisting the drive train is the locking differen-tial fitted standard to the Blade 550 ensuring for-ward momentum is main-

tained even in the most challenging of terrain and traction conditions. The easy access, on demand, electronic differential lock and 2WD/4WD mode se-lector switch provides the rider full steering control throughout the mode se-lection process.

The 550 AR features IRS, a fully independent multi link rear suspen-sion with spring preload adjustment offering the rider increased levels of comfort and stability. The spring preload feature also provides adjustment to cater for variations in cargo requirements.

Protection of the ATV are taken care by a long list of standard features including a full cover-age front brush bar link mounted to the standard heavy duty front rack for

enhanced impact resist-ance, drive train protec-tion guards including, constant velocity joint protection for extreme conditions and heavy duty 6 ply tyres.

These features are complemented by a tow bar with a towing capac-ity of 500kg and a 3000 lb winch with handle bar control fitted standard.

The point what makes the new 550 AR even more outstanding in the Australian ATV market, is the huge tray back. With a size for 1200 x 900 x 280 mm (L x W x H) and a 200 kg carrying capacity including gas assisted lift, it has the industry leading unmatched cargo bed for an ATV.
