New Leaps New Leaps

Giza Systems has just inaugurated its new office in Doha, Qatar

to enhance its commitment to delivering quality performance and

ensuring full local support services.

Since 2006, Giza Systems has steadily been building its reputation

in Qatar with the implementation of a number of projects specifically

within the telecom and government sectors. It has successfully

established itself in the Qatari market with the ERP Implementation

Solution for the Tax Authority, followed by the delivery and fulfillment

of Revenue Assurance and Fraud Management Solutions for Qtel. It

also worked with ICT Qatar in the deployment of Number Management

Solutions.

To respond to the growing demand for Giza Systems’ integrated

solutions in the region, as well as leverage the company’s success and

proven track record in the different fields, the Doha office enhances

Giza Systems’ ability to service its fast growing customer base.

Eng. Diaa ElHaqe will head Giza Systems’ Qatar office. ElHaqe will be

providing the Qatari market with Giza Systems portfolio of integrated

solutions and services.

“The opportunity to spearhead our newest office in the region is an

invigorating prospect. I am confident that our multi-faceted team will

provide agile fulfillment of our services to the different industries. As

our customer base in the region grows, our utmost priority is to ensure

consistent superior quality, performance, reliability, and support,”

commented ElHaqe.

The new office is located at Level 15, Commercial Bank Plaza

Westbay, P.O. Box 27111 Doha, Qatar.

Diaa ElHaqe joined Giza Systems back in 2004 as a Senior Solution

Architect and was shortly promoted to Telecom Account Manager.

Since then, he has assumed a number of regional managerial positions

due to his outstanding contributions and dedication to the Company.

Prior to heading the Qatari Office, ElHaq was holding the position of

Presales Manager in the Telecom Business Unit and has been selected

to lead the new branch in Qatar and oversee the operations in the

region. Throughout his ten years of experience, Diaa has acquired

exceptional skills and knowledge in a plethora of technologies that

have equipped him to advance within the Company. He has also

received a number of certifications related to UMTS mobile generation

technology, data networks, Nortel unified solutions, voice transmission

and DMS switches, SDH rings and transmissions, Harris Microwave

systems, and SS7 technology.

Prior to joining Giza Systems, Diaa was working as a Telecom Solutions

Architect & Presales Engineer at Kemet Co.

He holds a Bachelors degree in Electronics & Communications

Engineering from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt.

Operating in the Middle East through Giza Arabia, Giza Systems’

group of companies is focused on contributing to the local and

regional development with its technology solutions, commitment

and outstanding customer service.

With the remarkable growth witnessed in its business in the Kingdom

of Saudi Arabia (KSA) throughout the different industries, Giza Arabia

has increased its staff in the head office in Riyadh, as well as opened

new premises in Al-Khobar to service the area.

The new office is located in Al-Khobar at King Abdullah Road, Shaikh

Tower, Office # 609, P.O Box 30238, Al-Khobar 31952, KSA.

The new branch is dedicated to serve the activities mainly targeting

the Eastern Region accounts. This includes strategic and major firms

like Saudi Aramco, SABIC, Saudi Railways, Saudi Electricity.

The impetus of having this branch operational and functional

is to extend the outreach of Giza Systems’ different verticals.

Simultaneously, it will enhance customer response time and facilitate

access to customer operations.

“Working on numerous KSA projects in the telecoms, utilities, oil &

gas, and government verticals, we recognized that new offices in Al-

Khobar would greatly position us in the KSA and serve to reinforce

our standing in the different provinces. Our goal is to provide our

customers with the best possible services and support experience

possible. As leading system integrators, we always strive to

realize new ways of ensuring that our activities revolve around our

customers’ needs,” explained Ashraf Attia, General Manager of Giza

Arabia.

After thirteen years in the Mohandessen district, Giza Systems will be

moving its corporate headquarters to a new seven-storey building in

the 5th Settlement, in New Cairo. The location of the new headquarters

is ideally situated in the upscale corporate locale. The new building

covers a total area of 3,556 square meters and is expected to house

over 600 staff.

With the move to the new building, Giza Systems will be able to

accommodate its Cairo based staff in one building, as well as apply a

hoteling system that ensures more streamlined use of resources and

efficient tracking of engineers on projects.

Construction of the new building started in January 2009 and is

expected to be completed by the third quarter in 2011. The construction

company was DETAC and the architectural firm employed was MAC

Consultants. Both companies were contracted through competitive

bidding and due to their expertise. The total estimated cost of the

building is EGP 70 million.

“The move and the new work environment are the launch of an exciting

new chapter for Giza Systems, for it responds to our evolving needs.

The building truly reflects our development and growth both as a

company and as people. Our team carefully selected each element in

the building to capture our new brand identity and our work ethic. We

wanted to make sure that all the elements blended in such a way to

render the workplace conducive to openness, flexibility, and comfort.

Basically, we wanted to make it a fun and relaxing place for our staff

and clients. The countdown begins!” commented Wessam Ghazy,

Director of Institutional Development.

where is it applicable?

Giza Systems, Raya Holding, and Summit Holding have joined forces

to launch a fundraising event to support those injured during the

January 25th Revolution. As part of their corporate social responsibility,

the sponsoring companies have synergized their efforts for the welfare

and rebuilding of Egypt.

The founders of the initiative have partnered with Al-Alaa Charity NGO

to act as a conduit for the donations and the proceeds, thus, ensuring

complete transparency in all transactions.

Their initiative, ‘Min Masry Le Masry,’ launched with a bazaar at the

Sawy Culture Wheel, in Zamalek. The charity fundraiser attracted

a large number of people. Visitors attended the charity bazaar to

support the cause by buying branded merchandize with the Revolution

theme and enjoying the different snacks graciously donated by some

individuals. The branded merchandise included notebooks,

t-shirts, mugs, key chains, bags all uniquely designed to reflect

a nationalist sense of pride.

The organizers and volunteers from the different companies

worked side by side throughout the day as a unified whole

with the firm belief that together they can make a difference

and rebuild the country. The philanthropic spirit of the event

was palpable and contagious. All those present at the

event could feel the spirit of cooperation, friendliness, and

altruism that rendered the event such a success.

The aim of the initiative is not only to fund surgeries,

but to also reinforce the economy by manufacturing

most of the merchandize locally to support the different

factories and print houses. Currently, the merchandize is

being sold at a number of stores (African Queen in Zamalek;

Choice branches; Samir & Aly branches; Shorouk Bookstores

branches; Urban Nomad in Maadi) all across Cairo to raise as

much funds for the cause as possible.

All the proceeds from the merchandise were donated to fund

surgeries and finance outstanding hospital bills at the French

Kasr El Eini Hospital. With the cooperation of a number of

associations and hospitals, a database of the injured was

compiled in order to assess the cases and determine the most

crucial ones in need of urgent help.

The priority was given to five critical cases. The first case

involved a bullet injury that was lodged by the spinal cord.

The patient underwent a number of operations due to the

wound becoming infected and his inability t o

walk. The patient recovered after b e i n g

hospitalized for 3 months. The s e c o n d

victim was paralyzed due to being run

over by a white van on the 28th

J a n u a r y and entered

into a coma. The

victim woke up from

the coma in May, however,

was in need of a lot of care

and physical therapy. The third

and fourth cases involved surgeries

resetting arm bones due to bullet injuries.

The fifth injury was caused by thugs throwing

acid on the victim’s face totally damaging the

person’s eyes and eyelids. A number of plastic

surgeries were performed due to severe damage

to the eyelids.

There are still many more cases in desperate

need of assistance and the initiative needs the

support of companies, as well as individuals, to

raise as much funds as possible. We call on all

companies to join us by becoming sponsors or

volunteering with their time and efforts.

For all those interested in donating to the

cause, the Alaa NGO CIB

account number is: 9790100029.

Qtel Awards Giza SystemsNetwork Inventory Project

Giza Systems has signed an agreement with Qatar Telecom (Qtel) for

the deployment of their network inventory solution offering. Under

the terms of the agreement, Giza Systems will supply, install, and

commission the required systems for Qtel, spanning most of the

technologies inside Qtel’s hybrid network. The scope of the agreement

also includes the review and enhancement of several business

processes that support the operation of this system.

Network inventory solutions consist of a set of applications that

consolidates and synchronizes the physical and logical views of

the telecom provider and offers complete asset management cycle.

Giza Systems partnered with Telcordia using their award-winning

Telcordia Integrated Inventory. This solution delivers a complete view

of the all network elements location, connectivity, capacity, utilization

and availability. This network resource management solution helps

operators boost availability, quality and optimize the network growing

investments through the use of data across the enterprise. The project

began February 2011 and is expected to be completed within 30

months.

“We are extremely enthusiastic about this growing relationship with

Qtel and of course about implementing this advanced network

inventory solution for one of our most valued clients. On the back of

this project, we have established a new branch office in Doha in order

to stay close to our clients and to better service the Qatari market.

Currently, the branch is fully operational and staffed,” stated Shehab

ElNawawi, Chairman and Managing Director at Giza Systems.

Giza Systems’ solution expertise will enable Qtel to revisit the fulfillment,

planning and asset management cycles to operate faster and more

efficiently and to fully employ all their resources and assets, as well

as to streamline their operational costs. Network inventory solutions

allow for exceptional data accuracy and provide a consolidated view

of data including data federation for risk and cost assessment.

“In addition to incorporating a consolidated resource and service

inventory solution, Qtel will be able to deploy an automated flow-

through provisioning capability for their network and customer service.

Not only will this implementation offer greater consolidation and

operational efficiency, but it will also promote automated provisioning

from customer order receipt to customer service activation. This

automated process includes interaction with the existing plans, the

billing cycle, the work force, and problem management systems

if needed,” stated Ahmed Kamal, General Manager of the Telecom

Business Unit at Giza Systems.

“Having implemented the Revenue Assurance (RA) and Fraud

Management Systems (FMS) for Qtel previously, we are delighted to

be selected again on a project of such business value to Qtel. We

consider this opportunity a major milestone for us to emphasize a long

term partnership with Qtel on an exceptional platform that will boost

the capabilities of our network inventory solution expertise, aiming to

achieve Qtel business objectives,” commented Mohamed Sedeek,

Vice President of Sales and Delivery at Giza Systems.

This milestone positions Giza Systems as the leading integrated

solutions provider in the region and exemplifies their relentless

commitment to drive innovation and efficiency to their customers.

We consider this opportunity a major milestone for us to em-

phasize a long term partnership with Qtel on an exceptional plat-

form that will boost the capa-bilities of our network inventory

maintenance contract for the duration of one year.

The award entails ensuring the production of drinking

water 24/7 at the plant, as well as maintaining the

upkeep and running of the plant The water treatment

plant has been officially opened. With regards to the

water treatment process implemented, it is up and

stone that enabled us to broaden our scope of

expertise,” stated Shehab ElNawawi, Giza Systems

Chairman and Managing Director.

As part of its corporate governance and its responsibility towards its

people, society, and environment, Giza Systems is adopting a fully

comprehensive Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE)

management system by integrating quality

into all its business processes.

Its commitment to the health and safety of its

people, the protection of the environment, as

well as the development of the community

necessitates its espousal to principles

advancing risk reduction/elimination and

pollution prevention in all its operations.

Maintaining excellence in quality and

continuously striving to surpass its own benchmarks epitomize Giza

Systems’ competitive advantage and what differentiates it in the

market.

To fulfill the aims of the QHSE management, Giza Systems has

defined and implemented the QHSE standards, strategic objectives

and targets, as well as the establishment of clear QHSE performance

guidelines throughout the organization.

The management system developed and already in place is based on

the ISO 9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 to ensure the consistency

of the results obtained from the implementation of these standards.

“The significance of adopting these

successful processes is the ability to

define standards, set objectives, achieve

consistency, and identify actions for

improvement,” stated Hisham El Deeb, Vice

President of Performance Management.

“The QHSE management system is not just

a commitment made by an organization, but

it is more akin to a way of life that guides us

in our operations and our striving for excellence,” he added.

These standards enable the Company to take on a systematic

approach for sustaining comprehensive risk assessments in order to

evaluate Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) impacts, as well as

set clear objectives for improvement. Moreover, the adoption of these

standards reflects the organization’s drive in fostering innovation, and

creates value-added services to its clients.

ISO 9001:2008

The ISO 9001:2008 is the latest quality management system standard issued by the International

Organization for Standardization providing organizations from all over the world with an established

framework for managing processes. Following an eight year span of the ISO 9001:2000

implementation, recent updates have been added to enhance the systematic approach for

achieving consistent results that exceed customers’ expectations. The ISO 9001:2008 ensures

that organizations satisfy the global requirements of quality, by ensuring the effectiveness of

quality management within an organization through its processes.

ISO 14001:2004

ISO 14001 is the internationally recognised standard for the environmental management of

businesses. It prescribes controls and regulations for activities that impact the environment.

Amongst such considerations are the use of natural resources, handling and treatment of waste

and energy consumption.

The benefits of implementing the ISO 14001 within an organization are numerous, as they not only

demonstrate a deep-rooted concern for the environment, but also reflect on the management’s

approach and expertise in handling environmental risks.

In addition to its responsibilities towards the environment, the safety of its people, and the

development of its community, Giza Systems has incorporated environmental management within

its processes to also raise awareness of the importance of environmental concerns as part of

corporate culture.

OHSAS 18001:2007

OHSAS 18001 is the most recent certification specification for Occupational Health and Safety

(OH&S) Management Systems. This entails the potential reduction of accidents, downtime, and

associated costs.

This certification aims at the protection of all stakeholders from the exposure to risks. By

establishing regulations and controls, the standards seek to eliminate or minimize exposure to

risks.

The application of these processes within Giza Systems has increased the level of preparedness

of the employees by setting up emergency and safety trainings in the event of different scenarios.

Furthermore, the implementation of these controls has enabled Giza Systems to determine key

performance indicators to measure the OH&S progress within the organization and ensure its

continual improvements.
