ry On the Club,

With autumn in full swing, we have had a lot of action here at the Club and there are many things to report. For fall, Rick has a huge guest discount: forty dollars guest greens fee (including a cart) Tuesdays through " ursdays in November - “what a deal!” It has been great seeing so many enjoy the Club lately. " is time of year is always very busy. With the holiday season approaching, we are gearing up with merchandise in the pro shops, training new sta! and developing menu options for holiday parties. I believe that we will have a major increase in business this holiday season with Jimmy’s new menu and holiday event plans. I hope you will consider your Club fi rst when planning a holiday event this year. After all, it is your restaurant that you would be supporting.

One of the most exciting things to report is the addition of Fitsum Baye to our food and beverage team. As we have experienced major increases in ala carte dining at the Club, it will be good to have more experienced management handling our growth in this area. Mr. Baye plans to focus on improving our service in the dining room and on our events; his years of experience will provide us with a new level of food service. Please be sure to contact him for any future event planning with the Club!

" ank you to all who completed the member survey this summer. A link to an executive report of the fi nding will be published and emailed out you this month. Over 500 members took the time to complete the questionnaire, and we are very pleased with the feedback that we received! As promised, the committees are reviewing the results, searching for trends and values for you, the members.

I am excited to share with you that we have had over 53 new families join the Club so far this year! We have also seen an increased retention rate in current members, which is great news as well. Membership is the key to the success of the Club and as we move forward in improving the facilities to stay current, valued membership makes all these dreams possible. I hope you continue to promote your Club to your friends and associates. " ank you to all that have sponsored new members this year. As always, if we can help you show the Club to a potential member, please contact Je! Earley or myself.

Our Club is in an excellent position to move forward into a bright future with our great membership and excellent service.

At your service,

Don Hunter, COO

About the House " e results are in from our recent survey of member likes, dislikes, don’t cares and wouldn’t it be nice ifs and I can report that there seems to be a groundswell for a fi tness center. Such an idea has been discussed by the House Committee and the Board, but we never realized how much passion for a fi tness center existed among you.

Of the 504 members who responded to the survey, 75 percent of you said you paid fees to a gym or fi tness club outside of CHCC, and 55.2 percent of you said you would like to see a fi tness center built at our Club.

Can it be done? Sure, if we are willing to devote considerable ground fl oor space to the project, thus sacrifi cing a lot of meeting and special events area, and if we are willing to spend the money necessary. And by money necessary, I mean a good bit, because such a project should not be undertaken if not undertaken properly.

Opinions on food at the Club varied, as you might expect. " irteen percent said the food was excellent. " e same number thought the food was worse than last year. " e remainder of the respondents were somewhere in between.

Most members seemed reasonably OK with the knowledge displayed by servers and with server attention. " ere were, however, a goodly number of respondents who were not that happy with the food service.

Less than half of you felt the Club should pursue outside events to o! set the cost of operations, but very few were unqualifi edly happy at the prospect.

Food preferences ran from 71 percent favoring healthy and light, to 1.7 percent choosing cheap, cheap, cheap. Locally sourced and organic foods scored 44.7 percent and Italian food came in at 36 percent approval. And 9 percent of you said you ate to live, rather than living to eat.

And lastly, let’s hear it for our general manager, Don Hunter. An overwhelming number of you felt Don was doing a good to excellent job. For which he should get a rousing “attaboy”. Larry Cheek, House Committee [email protected]

Membership NewsWhile 2013 is winding down, things around the Club are kicking into high gear! " e holiday season is always one of our busiest times, which also makes it a perfect time to bring out potential new members. Our fall membership deal is still in place, where new members can receive up to 30% o! of initiation fees. We are so close to reaching our 2013 goal, and would love to sell out our remaining memberships. I ask that you please take every opportunity in the next couple of months to bring out anyone who might be interested in Club membership.

I would also like to remind you about the Annual Membership Meeting, which will take place on Monday, December 2 at 7:00 pm. " is is an opportunity for members to come out and hear about the status of the Club, our plans for the upcoming year, as well as a forum to ask questions that you may have and to o! er suggestions or praise. We hope that you will take the time to participate.

Je! Earley, Assistant Manager and Membership Director

2013 Junior Program Wrap Up" is years’ junior program stayed extremely active in part to our successful junior clinics. Our spring and fall Tuesday/" ursday after school clinics have stayed busy this year once again with having between 70 and 90 total juniors signed up! Our teaching pros Derek, Jarrod, Gene, Greg, Lindsay and Jaime enjoying the success our juniors are having here at CHCC and in their weekend USTA tournaments.

We have seen strong improvements in our Quickstart program this year at CHCC. We had a total of 7 Quickstart & Junior Team Tennis teams this spring with close to 45 juniors participating and a State Championship!

A BIG CONGRATS goes out to our 8 & Under Beginner team consisting of Cody Benton, Jonathan Baddour, Will Covington and Miller Roessler. " is team won their local league and advanced to the State Championships in Fayetteville, NC. July 20. " ey fi nished 4-0 in the tournament and became our second Junior State Champion here from CHCC! Carter Myers and William Harris also competed during the local season to help with winning the league, but were unable to attend the State Championships.

We have a total of 29 juniors currently ranked in North Carolina (22 in 2012) in their respective age divisions with 10 juniors new to tournaments this year and have worked their way to a state ranking, and we’re still growing! We are proud of them and are looking forward to improving these rankings for 2014. Below is a list of our current ranked juniors here at CHCC along with their previous ranking from last year.

2013 Adult Program Wrap UpCHCC Member Tournament ChampionsAdult Spring Team Challenge: Randy Smith, Susan Beatty, Courtney Edwards & Steve KottongMember/Guest: Randy Smith/Meredith Bolon & David Baddour/Mark Baddour Tennis/Golf Biathlon: Bruce Ballentine/Cli! Butler & Pam Ballentine/Linda Butler We had close to 100 CHCC members play this year in our USTA spring, summer and fall seasons and almost 40 ladies who played in our spring and fall Triangle Tennis League. We’d like to send out a big THANK YOU to the members for being so patient and cooperative as court availability was tough on some days due to the amount of matches we had scheduled each week during the season. During those 8 weeks of high tra# c in the spring and fall months of league play, those members who were able to play before 9:30 am or after 11:00 am, we always had courts ready for them to play on despite having 2 teams at home. And to ALL the captains this year, thank you for taking on the responsibility of this “job.” Without your time and e! ort of keeping the teams organized each season, we would not be as successful as we have become each season. So keep up the great work!
