Your Lieutenant Governor

Hey Key Clubbers

Alaska Rally is this month, Who’s excited? I can’t wait to see eve-

ryone there, we’re going to have so much fun! I need everyone to

send in their contact information to my email. If your secretary

sends me an excel sheet that would be awesome! Also I would

like to get a Monthly update on what your club is doing, if you

need anything from me, or if you just have an awesome service

project that your club is doing, I would love to know. We will not

be having a Divisional Conference meeting this month because

of Alaska Rally. I hope everyone has an awesome Turkey Day! Al-

so I apologize for my newsletter being late. I was out of power

just as a lot of you might have been.

With love and service

What is MNT?

In 28 countries around the world, maternal and neonatal teta-

nus (MNT) can quickly turn the joy of childbirth into tragedy.

MNT kills one baby every nine minutes. Its effects are excruci-

ating — tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions

and extreme sensitivity to light and touch. There is little hope

of survival. And tetanus kills mothers too.

What will it take to eliminate MNT from the

Earth?

More than 100 million mothers and their future babies must

be immunized.

This requires vaccines, syringes, safe storage, transportation,

thousands of skilled staff and more. It will take US$110 mil-

lion — and the dedicated work of UNICEF and every mem-

ber of the Kiwanis family.

What they do 1. Educate

We build scholarship funds to pay for the education of talented,

ambitious, and extremely poor youth around the world, in areas

where public school is not available or fees and uniforms are too

expensive. The funds are raised through YUDA Bands projects, a

unique service learning project for high schools, jr highs, and

middle schools all across America.

2. Crate Jobs

When American youth host a YUDA Bands project at their school

it is important to understand that not only are they providing ed-

ucation but also jobs for the needy. A growing number of people

in Guatemala put food on the table at night by making YUDA

Bands during the day.

3. Empower Youth

YUDA Bands projects should not end when sales are completed

at a school. If the project is done right the spirit of YUDA Bands

remains long after the bands are all sold. The YUDA Band on stu-

dent’s wrists act as a silent reminder of the service they gave. The

project will create a movement we call the YUDA

Bands Revolution. When students look at their YUDA Band they

not only are reminded of their education and other blessings, but

are more inclined to serve others.

For just $8 you can help a student go to school for a

year. North Pole High School is sponsoring three stu-

dents and would like your help! Advertise Advertise

Advertise! We don’t have much longer and we

would love to send all of these kids to school. They’re

not just helping a kid in need, they’re stylish too! Buy

a band, Change a life!

Yuda Bands will be available at Alaska Rally!
