Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Yours truly,
Jean J. Regan, Ed.D.
Principal
Dear Parents,
During this time of cele-
brating Thanksgiving, I am
thankful for the wonderful
support we receive for our
school from members of our
school community. Volun-
teers pop popcorn, sell items
at our school store, sell tick-
ets for the Junior High Musi-
cal, serve on committees, and
chaperone activities. Our
PTA provides funding for
many school activities.
Teachers spend time mentor-
ing students and working with
students after school. Thank
you to our parents for read-
ing with your student, helping
with homework and projects,
and modeling appropriate
behaviors that lead to good
citizenship.
Report cards will be avail-
able through PowerSchool on
November 18. If you have
questions about grades,
please contact the appropri-
ate teacher. If you have diffi-
culty accessing your account,
please contact Mr. Hennigan
([email protected] or
655-5303).
Congratulations to our
Junior High Musical cast and
crew. What an awesome
performance and showcase
for our talented students!
Thank you to our directors

All 11 year old
students in 5th
grade should get
the Tdap
vaccine. It is a
mandatory
requirement
before entrance to
6th grade
Health Office Hype I encourage everyone to get the flu
vaccine as that is the best way to pro-
tect yourself and your loved ones from
the flu. The next best way is to wash
hands frequently with soap and water
for a minimum of 20 seconds. Hand sani-
tizer can also be used. Everyone should
keep their hands away from their eyes,
nose and mouth as those are the main
ways viruses enter the body, also the
main way viruses are spread. Chewing
on a pen or pencil and then putting it on
the desk spreads germs to the next per-
son who touches the desk.
Covering a cough or sneeze is essen-
tial in protecting others, use a tissue
which is then discarded, or your elbow.
Wash again!! Disinfect surfaces such as
desks, tables, door knobs, faucet han-
dles, phones, refrigerators, remote con-
trols, steering wheels any surface that
multiple people touch.
A new toothbrush is essential after
the flu or even severe cold symptoms. I
have a supply of tooth-brushes, so have
your child stop in if they have recovered
from an illness and purchasing a new one
is a problem.
The following information is based on
requirements from the State Education
Department:
1. Accurate attendance records must be
maintained. Therefore, all students who
are absent, tardy or leaving early need to
have a written excuse with the date,
child’s full name, specific reason (sore
throat, Dr./Dentist appointment, hair
appointment, piano lesson, etc.) and the
parent’s signature. I really appreciate a
call at 655-1332 when your child is ab-
sent. This does not take the place of a
written excuse, but is beneficial in letting
me know that your child is safe at
home. All absence excuses are due the
day your child returns. If you know your
child will be absent for an appointment or
a vacation etc., please send the note to
the office ahead of time.
2. If your child needs any medications
during school hours or for modified
school sports (prescription, over-the-
counter, inhalers, etc.) the proper forms
have to be completed and on file in the
health office. Cough drops are the only
thing your child can carry without a par-
ent and doctor note. Self carry paper-
work must be completed for Inhalers in
back packs that go to the sitters, sports
etc.
3. A current physical (signed by a NYS
Physician) is required on all 7th grade
students, all children new to the Cazeno-
via District, and all students due for a
Triennial Review. This physical should be
done by your Pediatrician or Family Doc-
tor as he/she best knows your child. Both
sides of the physical form must be com-
pleted. A physical done after school be-
gins in 6th grade is good for that year and
is still acceptable for the 7th grade physi-
cal. It is not acceptable for modified
sports where the physical expires in one
year.
4. All 11 year old students in 5th grade
should get the Tdap vaccine. It is a man-
datory requirement before entrance to
6th grade
If you have any questions or concerns
please call me at 655-1332. Thanks,
Diane Belton RN

More information on
medications in school. Please
read and teach your child
about their medications -
they should know all this
information about meds they
take at school or on field
trips. For a child to self
carry their Inhaler they need
to be self directed, they also
must be self directed to have
a teacher carry their meds
on a field trip. Self directed
means your child can identify
their med by color/shape,
name. Tell purpose of med,
know correct dose and
when needed during the day.
Describe what happens if the
med is not taken, refuse the
med if they have concerns,
take the correct pill dosage
out of their bottle or direct
a teacher to do so.

Mr. Lowenstein, a singer,
actor and dancer was a
member of the original

Musical, based on the
works of children’s au-

Seventh Grade Student Leaders Named Our first group of student
leaders has been selected. The
Student Leader program is de-
signed to develop student re-
sponsibility by having 7th grade
leaders encourage others to fol-
low school rules. Student Lead-
ers set, by example and monitor-
ing, appropriate behaviors in the
lavatories, on the playground, and
in the hallways. Any inappropri-
ate behaviors are reported to the
teachers or the principal. Our
Student Leaders also act as rep-
resentatives for their homerooms
to discuss school wide concerns
and special activities. They meet
regularly to address ideas in a
modified form of student govern-
ment.
Congratulations to: Brendan
Coffey, Janie Kempf, Cole Strong,
