A reminder to families to make sure your children are dressed warmly and that they are wearing the appropriate footwear. This year’s Remembrance Service will take place on November 10th at 1:15 in the gym, families are welcome to a(end. Report cards go home on November 19 th and Parent Teacher Interviews are November 26 th . There are some report card changes coming to the Grade Primary to Three Report cards. They are as follows: · In the Learner Profile (instead of consistently, usually, prompts, rarely) well developed, developed, or needs development will be used to indicate pro- gress, with developed being the target for most students. · Well developed, developed or needs development will also be used to indicate achievement in Physical Educa4on and Music, replacing le(er grades. (Phys Ed and Music teachers will only be commen4ng on primary stu- dents’ progress during second and third term.) · There will be no separate marks and/or comments for science, social studies, health and art as these are now integrated in the Language Arts and Math subjects. For more informa4on on how your child is doing in these areas, teachers will be more than happy to let you know at Parent Teach- er Interviews. · In Grades 1—3, one le(er grade will now represent all Math strands covered, with the mark represen4ng the majority of the work. Please pay special a(en4on to the comments that will reflect the work within the strands. · There will be more summary-style comments as the character count for teach- er repor4ng has been reduced by 38%. Comments will focus on strengths, challenges, and next steps. I would encourage all of you to a(end Parent-Teacher visita4on to discuss your child’s progress with his/her teacher. See you on Nov.26th! If you have any ques4ons or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the school at 902-847-4400. Mike Pinard
