ver noticed how some rooms seem cozy and comfortable, whereas others have an indifferent and frosty look? Many attributes
such as color and lighting contribute to a room’s ambience; the way the furniture is arranged also influences the atmosphere. Whether you are refurnishing or setting up a new room, or enhancing the level of comfort in an existing one, it helps to understand, first and foremost, how to arrange furniture in a way that suits your needs and helps in creating enjoyable and comfortable spaces.Furniture arrangement needs to start with understanding and analyzing the space of your room, how many people use the room, what is the room used for and so on. Balanced rooms are more pleasing to the eye and make more effective use of the available space. Many people simply set up their furniture haphazardly throughout their house. This can be quite understandable; after all, furniture can be heavy and awkward to move, and many homes simply aren’t friendly to furniture arrangement. However, by taking the time to arrange your furniture creatively, you can gather many advantages. Proper furniture arrangements can help to increase your comfort, define spaces, make smaller spaces look larger and vice versa. Most often people are so overwhelmed with the po-tential and insecurities of furniture arrangement, they are often left wondering where to start? One way out is to hire an interior decorator who will typically set their prices based on the number of hours, square footage of the home, etc. This may work out very expensive though. By using the services of an interior designer, you receive the benefit of their expertise to help you refine your selections and avoid costly mistakes. However, hiring the right decorator with great money saving tips can definitely help.If you know exactly what look is required for your
rooms, you can decorate your home yourself. Ask yourself these questions about the room you want to redesign: what is the basic shape of the room, and what are its dimensions? What is its inherent nature? What are its problems? What are its plus points? Make a floor plan to help you visualize where to place furniture, how many pieces will fit into the room? Start with one room at a time. If you need brainwaves, check out model homes, furniture stores, decorating TV shows, furniture magazines and books, catalogs, and so on. Although it is difficult to point and say this is where this piece is to be put, some guidelines can be provided which will help you think about how you will use your space.Choose furniture that serves the room’s purpose. Ideally, a small room should have small pieces of furniture and large rooms should have heavier ones.Clean out the room before moving in the furnitureCarpets and rugs help bring color and interest into the room.Visual interest can be enhanced by using “out of the ordinary” objects that could serve as décor.By arranging your furniture in new and exciting ways, you can help to redefine your rooms and make your house a real home. As mentioned earlier arranging furniture is a huge task and there are no hard and fast rules but with the right décor tips, furniture can be suited to fit your family better.

An increasing number of people find that they can remodel their bathrooms to create the perfect place in which they can relax, refresh, rejuvenate and/or have a romantic time. A bathroom redo can be an inexpensive and fun way to spruce up your entire house. Here are some tips for remodeling your bathroom.
When you decide to begin a bathroom remodeling project, it is quickest to organize your goals before shopping for materials. Choose what items you want to replace, add, or take away from the bath area. Consider refinishing existing items such as bathtub, shower, sinks and toilet, or renewing the tiles or tub and shower enclosure to give a new look to your bathroom even with just a little investment. The bathroom is one of the most used areas of the house, so you want to be sure that you have it remodeled in such a way that it will last for a long time. Remodeling is extremely exciting because it means you are getting to create the ambiance you have always wanted in one of your favorite places: the bathroom.
So why remodel if you can simple re-decorate? Perhaps you would like to redo the bathroom, but at the same time you would like to keep things uncomplicated. If it is time for a bathroom makeover, count yourself lucky when you see the number of wonderful current decorating ideas for the bathroom today. There is a huge amount you can do with simple decorative treatments that avoid a full remodel.
If you have a small bathroom, remodeling ideas should mostly revolve around freeing the space of clutter and making better use of the available space. Using shelves, taller cabinets, and other organizational items will help the room seem larger because everything has a place and there is nothing left to crowd the space. There’s wide variety of cabinets available to fit over the toilet or along empty walls to maximize the available area, or cabinets can be hung on the wall to free up floor space.
Regardless of the size of your bathroom, it is important that you sort out the existing items in the bathroom and choose which items you want to keep and which items can now retire. Clearing out unimportant clutter from the bathroom can help you decorate the room easily and match items for your
fresh theme. Don’t be afraid to be bold and exciting - make your bathroom a fun place to visit!
Another decorating idea for a bathroom is to redo the porcelain sink and the tub. These tend to take a lot of abuse through the years, and with a fresh treatment, they will look brand-new. It’s a lot cheaper than putting in all new fixtures, and it really does make your bathroom look good.
A common bathroom decorating idea for people on a budget is adding or replacing light fixtures. While choosing a light may seem like a daunting task, be aware that once you have chosen the perfect lighting to enhance your bathroom’s theme, it can make a dramatic change to the overall feel of the room. Of course, also consider new paint, tile or wall paper to freshen up the space.
Following the new bathroom decorating trends while maintaining individual taste and style can be achieved with a little research and great imagination. Building on these ideas is sure to help anyone create the bathroom of their dreams. Home decorating magazines can be quite helpful, because if you see decorating materials that you like, there is often a section that shows how you can get them. They are also good at allowing you to see how the materials you’re interested in fit with other colors in the room.
If you find that redecorating just won’t do, and you really need to remodel, as part of your planning process create a bathroom remodeling check list to help you determine how much of an upgrade you can afford. Make sure you know exactly where your fixtures will go when designing your remodeling project, since you need the plumbing there to accommodate them. Unless you can somehow move the location of your fixtures, your sink, tub, and toilet are going to be exactly where you have them right now. In most cases, the location of your fixtures is going to be a hard limit, so plan accordingly.
Depending on the size of your bathroom and your budget, there are a few bathroom remodeling tips that can the project go smoother, as well as make life after the project easier.
For large-budgeted bathroom remodeling projects, you can go beyond your dream bathroom by expanding the area and separating the toilet from the bath area. You can even add spa treatments, bathtubs, water jets and other more expensive bathroom add-ons.
If you have a more modest budget, one of the most important things is to make sure that the shower area is easily accessible. For example, some showers require a person to step up in order to enter the shower, while others are just walk-in showers. Whichever kind of shower you choose, it is important to note that it will have to be well installed in order to prevent leaks. Another method of controlling bathroom remodeling costs could be instead of replacing your tub and all the wall tiles, you could look into a tub and wall unit that fits right over an existing tub and wall. By using this technique and for a few hundred dollars the area can look as if it is brand new. The alternative is replacing everything, which could run into the thousands.
When you choose where smaller fixtures go in the bathroom remodeling design, think function over form. For items such as the towel rack or even the toilet paper roll, keep in mind that they should go in places that are sensible, The towel rack might look nice by the door, but if it’s out of arm’s reach of the bathtub, then you won’t be happy whenever you get out of the shower, for example. With all things in bathroom remodeling design, if you design with an eye for common sense and space, you will be successful in your attempt to create a room that’s both stylish and functional.
There is no greater joy to a homeowner then to remodel a favorite room such as the bathroom. So, enjoy every minute of it, and, more importantly, enjoy the outcome of your work and labor. Once you are satisfied with the project, you can take your first relaxing shower and enjoy the long-term benefit from the investment you made.

Ceiling tile has many types, which are made of different kinds of materials and provide several functions. Acoustic ceiling tile is one of the types of ceiling tiles that is used for sound reduction and soundproofing purposes. Acoustic ceil-ing tile is made of spun mineral wool fiber that is combined with starch, which is in charge for soundproofing.
Tin ceilings tiles are made of different kinds of metals such as steel, copper, tin and brass. Usually, the metal is in big rolls, which has different designs. Tin ceilings tiles are used for commercial and residential structures. It can be found in its original form or as a new product, which imitates the elegance and the charm of the older appearance. Some people such as homeowners, artists, crafters and collectors are fonder of ceiling tiles that are in their original forms.
Another type of ceiling tile is the antique ceiling tile, which is popularly used today for wall décor, artworks, and decorative accessories and for renovating projects for homes. Antique ceiling tile is ornate, beautiful, charming and elegant that attracts many people.
The ceilume ceilings tile is made from 0.13-vinyl plastic material, which is UV – stabilized. Ceilume ceilings tile is used for lighting fixtures and ceiling sprinkler, which is categorized as Class I and rated at one hundred degree Fahrenheit. In addition, ceilume ceilings tile can be removed easily without ruining the surface. It is not prone to water damage because it is made of vinyl. Moreover, ceilume ceilings does not grow bacteria and mold, which is one of the major reasons of poor quality of indoor air.
Mineral fiber ceiling tile is made from mineral fibers. It is categorized as Class I, which is made to be placed on top of the ceiling sprinkler systems. Mineral fiber ceiling tile is opaque so it not good to be used for lighting fixtures. Separate lighting panels must be purchased.
Tin ceiling tiles were pressed or embossed during the Victorian Period, which were popular due to it affordability. Tin ceiling tiles are best substitutes for ceilings that are designed in plaster in wealthy
European homes. The metal sheets of copper, stainless steel or tin were designed with elaborate patterns that are usually painted white to bear resemblance to molded plaster; hand curved or expensively produced ceilings.
The production of tin ceiling tiles were stopped during the Word War II period due to the conservation of metals for the war, which lead to the emergence of other types of ceilings. In the years 1950s and 1960s, dry wall and acoustic drop ceiling tiles were on top of the market and were popularly used in hotels, buildings and homes.
Original tin ceiling tiles have intricate and beautiful craftsmanship and designs so many people enjoy collecting different sizes and patterns. Most collectors are looking for unique shapes, colors, symbols and patterns of tin ceiling tiles.
Reproduced tiles are countless in number and it may be difficult to distinguish vintage pieces. When choosing a vintage ceiling tile, remem-ber that older ceiling is heavier than the new version. Older ceiling tin has many dents, rust, rough edges, chipped paint and sharp holes.

* Opt for natural materials such as cotton or cotton blends of polyester and cotton. These fabrics will help let your skin breathe whilst you sleep. They will also keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Easy to launder and take care of, cotton blends are available in a whole host of plain and patterned fabrics.
* Coordinate the style, design and colour with the bedroom décor, alternatively choose crisp white or classical creams for a fresh look. Choose bedding which is available with matching or coordinating pillow cases, and other soft furnishings such as scatter cushions and curtains if you want a totally coordinated bedroom.
* Colours and patterns are important as they can affect your mood! Create restful places for total relaxation with soft tones such as lilacs, creams, pastel pinks or yellows. Alternatively add vibrancy with vivid primary colours such as red or blue. Geometric patterns are ideal for modern interior design styles, while more traditional interiors favour more modest patterns. Cottage style interiors look fabulous with floral duvet covers and lace trims in pretty pastel tones.
* Select duvet covers which have beautiful embroidery or are embellished with sequins to add different textures and a touch of classy refinement to the bedroom. Team these with boudoir style cushions in a variety of different textures such as crushed velveteen or faux fur. Designers have used the graciousness of white and creams to create stunning duvet designs. Use swag and tail style curtains in coordinating fabrics to add a real touch of luxury to the room.
* For a touch of fun animal prints are in-vogue this year. Add accent features such as a faux fur throw across the bot-tom of the bed to add trendy style to the room. Team with animal wall art designs and a faux animal skin rugs to create a modern colonial style bedroom. Use wood Venetian style blinds to add interesting light effects during the day.
* Masculine style bedding comprising of plain duvet covers with a dark contrasting edge or panel are great for boys and men. Steer away from traditional feminine colours and go for burgundy, grey and blacks. So that the room doesn’t resemble a dark and dingy hole injected red or steel greys with rugs and framed wall art. Use blinds rather than fabric curtains to maintain the masculine look.
* Striped or checked duvet covers are ideal for guest rooms, offering a bright and clean lines which blend well with any décor. Stripes and checks offer a clean, pristine look to suit guests of any age. Select on of the colours from the stripes or checks to use as the colour for the window dressing to add cohesion to the room.
* Children’s bedrooms can be turned into palaces for princesses with pretty pastel pinks or favourite super hero dens for boys. Themed kids bedding is also ideal, which are widely available from high streets and online retailers. Children’s beds are also available which are made into the shape of racing cars and trains or miniature four poster styles, complete with sheer fabric drapes.

1. Lightly brush or spray the cored tomatoes with oil. Grill over direct medium heat (350°F to 450°F), with the lid closed as much as possible, until blackened and blistered, 8 to 10 minutes, turning once. Transfer to a platter.
2. Pierce the squash 6 times with the tines of a large fork. Place the squash on a double thickness of aluminum foil and grill over direct medium heat until the squash feels soft when pierced with a fork or pressed with a finger tip, 1 to 1-1/4 hours, turning 3 or 4 times. Keep the lid closed as often as possible during grilling.
3. While the squash is grilling, slip off the skins from the tomatoes and cut into 1/4-inch pieces. Place the tomatoes and their juices in a large saucepan. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil, the basil, garlic, and salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
4. When the squash is cooked, remove it from the grill, wrap it in a towel, and let stand 10 minutes. Protecting your hands with a kitchen towel, cut the squash in half lengthwise. Spoon out and discard the large seeds in the center. Then pull the hot squash from the tough outer skin with the tines of a fork into a large serving bowl. Briey reheat the tomato sauce in the saucepan. Pour over the spaghetti squash and toss. Top with the grated cheese and serve.
Makes 4 main dish servings or 6 side dish servings
Prep Time: 10 minutesMarinating Time: Grilling Time: 22 to 25 minutes1 medium red bell pepper
1. Grill the bell pepper over direct high heat (450°F to 550°F), with the lid closed as much as possible, until the skin is blackened and blistered all over, 12 to 15 minutes, turning occasionally. Place the pepper in a small bowl and cover with plastic wrap to trap the steam. Set aside for at least 10 minutes, then peel the skin from the pepper, discard the stem and seeds, and cut into strips. Set aside.
2. In a small bowl gently combine the burger ingredients. Add 1/4 cup of water and mix. Shape the meat into four patties of equal size and thickness. Grill over direct medium heat (350°F to 450°F) until the juices run clear, about 10 minutes, turning once. Keep the lid closed as often as possible during grilling. During the last 30 seconds, grill the buns until lightly toasted.
3. Serve the burgers hot on the toasted buns and top with grilled peppers, cheese, and lettuce.

A chocolate fountain is a fun and entertaining way to provide a cascading waterfall of chocolate for your guests or family. The fountain serves as a decorative device for serving chocolate fondue. The right consistency needs to be achieved to reach the correct texture for the chocolate to fall down the fountain. The chocolate is poured into the fountain in the base, the fountain is turned on to provide the heat which is controlled by a thermostat, and the motor turns the rotating blades to start the flow of chocolate. A corkscrew-type piece, called an auger, turns slowly in a rhythmic-like pattern; this draws the chocolate up to the top of the chocolate fountain. The fountain usually comes apart for easy clean-up as the pieces can be washed in a dishwasher. In most cases, the parts of the chocolate fountain are made from stainless steel for durability and allow the heat to be retained. Most fountains are solid and weigh approximately 40-90 pounds when empty. A small fountain contains about 9 pounds of chocolate and will feed up to 100 people. A medium sized fountain holds 20 pounds of chocolate and is 30 inches and can feed over 100 people. A larger fountain can provide enough liquid chocolate for over 250 people for a reasonable amount of time.
The best chocolate to use in a chocolate fountain is a chocolate containing more cocoa butter than most regular eating chocolate. The chocolate usually contains 33-44% more cocoa butter than the chocolate you get in bars or chips. This type of chocolate is called Couverture, the French word meaning covering. Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, and dairy-free chocolate will all be good choices for use in the chocolate fountain. These chocolates work best when the product is first melted in a double boiler to achieve the deserved consistency, after which it can be placed into the chocolate fountain. The low-temperature
heater will keep a regulated temperature of the chocolate to retain the flow of the wonderful covering. A chocolate that is too cold will not drop smoothly from tier to tier. A too-hot chocolate will become too thin and leave gaps in the waterfall effect.
Products that are best dipped into the chocolate fountain are marshmallows, pretzels, strawberries and other fruit such as bananas and grapes, cook-ies, and anything that complements the chocolate. The least desirable items would be something that crumbles or could add crumbles to the chocolate, that in turn could cause the fountain’s holes to become plugged, affecting the flow of chocolate. Using a long fork, skewer or stick can make it easier to enjoy the chocolate dipping pleasure.

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

Dear Friends ;Over 100 years ago when the early residents of Melville, along with officials from Grande Trunk Railway, sat down to lay out a town site, which was to be a railway turnaround point, as well as other things, they did something much different than many com-munities of the time; they chose a spot for a covered ice surface to be part of this growing and thriving community. Within a short period of time a hockey rink was built and Melville had a regular hockey team. Two World Wars later, as well as two major fires, Melville still kept hockey alive and well in the community. In fact, in 2008 when Melville celebrated its 100th Anniversary, players and volunteers from close to a century of hockey also assembled in Melville within the confines of the now Stadium to celebrate the highs and lows of one hundred years of hockey in the community.
Many of those who hadn’t been around for awhile were happy to not only see the old stadium in relatively good shape, but also they were happy to hear that our City fathers of the day, as well as local residents, were laying the beginnings of not only a new ice surface, but also a gathering place for the citizens of Melville to be named “The Melville Communiplex”! This state-of-the-art Communiplex should not only be a great 1500 seat hockey sur-face for all our minor hockey teams, but also our beloved Melville Millionaires of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. When Phase 1 is completed in January 2011, it will also house a 500 seat multi-purpose convention centre, a three lane walking track with rubberized flooring and a family fitness centre complete with cardio equipment and weight training equipment. Also available for rent will be a public meeting place with full concession needs for all events.
Just as I am sure it was difficult in the past for the community to raise funds every time they built a covered ice surface, this endeavor was no different. Setting your sites on a 26-27 million dollar facility, just as a recession was gripping North America, was at a minimum a scary undertaking. However early this year our Provincial and Federal governments came through with a 24 million dollar announcement, to the excitement of the City of Melville. Coupling that money with donations from our local citizens through the “Thousand for a Thousand Club”, plus various community donations, has made the work of the fund-raising group a lot easier. None the less they still undertook a major community radio auction on local radio station GX 94 Radio. It was so successful that I understand the Group is taking bookings for next year already.
As Economic Development Manager and acting Tourism Manager for this community, it is great to be a part of these exciting times, however we all believe that there is more to come. Babcock and Wilcox are very prominent
in our community and are working hard to secure work for their expedient work force. As well, CN has always been a dominant force in our community and we don’t see that letting up anytime soon. Almost weekly we have visits from major players in the business or hospitality industry looking at calling Melville home.
In the coming weeks I want to use this space to discuss more of the good things coming to our community in the near future. So please stay tuned.
Sincerely yours,
Micheal G. W. HalykManager, Tourism Melville, City of Melville Economic Development
The Bailey name has long been associated with funeral services in Melville, every since W. T. (Bill) Bailey was the community’s funeral director during the first half of the twentieth century, starting in 1914.
He was later assisted by his son Ray Bailey. It was here that W. Allan Bailey, the founder and president of Bailey’s Funeral Home, was first introduced to the profession, assisting his grandfather and father.
In 1983, Allan Bailey opened a Chapel in Melville, bringing the family name back to the community after an absence of about three decades.
The Melville Chapel is located at 101 Fifth Avenue West.
To ensure that a funeral ceremony is truly a reflection of the life lived, we appreciate the opportunity to explain the options available to you, and the services we provide.
We want to ensure that you understand your choices, and have the information you need to make a decision when you are ready.

On November 11 Canadians wear poppies and gather at war memorials across Canada to pay tribute to those who died in war. At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the time the Armistice of World War I was signed in 1918, we observe two minutes of silence to remember.
As we continue to fight the war on terrorism, it is important to remember and teach about the wars in which so many Canadians died.
Books of Remembrance
Seven Books of Remembrance are kept in the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill to honour
those Canadians who died serving Canada in war. There is one for each of the wars: the South African War, World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. There is a separate Book of Remembrance for the Merchant Navy, and another one for Newfoundlanders, since Newfoundland did not join Confederation until 1949. The Seventh Book of
Remembrance was dedicated in 2005 to honour Canadian Forces men and women who gave their lives for Canada since October 1947. It is ongoing and will honour Canadian Forces members who paid the ultimate sacrifice for generations to come.
The Books of Remembrance provide a beautiful and touching testament to the Canadians who died in military service. You can scroll through the names, and also see the decorative pages.

One of the most fun experiences while hunting is spending time with your hunting dog. Hunting dogs aren’t all about business. They are also a great companion with you when you are out stalking your prey. If you like to go hunting a lot, you should always bring a hunting dog with you so that you don’t get lonely. Unfortunately, it can sometimes be hard to transport hunting dogs to the locations you plan to hunt at. The best way to do it is with hunting dog boxes. These are dog carrier units that can fit in the bed of a truck or can be towed behind a car. This is especially helpful for bigger dogs that take up too much space in the car. This can be a seeing hazard otherwise. In these situations, you should use a dog box to transport your dog in. There are even dog boxes that can be affixed to ATVs. If you are planning on getting a dog box to help with transportation, there are some hunting dog box supplies that you can get to help you along the way.
One of the best hunting dog box supplies is a blanket. Most dog boxes are very hard and angular. This can be very uncomfortable for the dog. If you put a blanket on the bottom of the box before the dog gets in, it will likely have a much better time. Although it’s a very simple idea, these hunting dog box supplies are super important to the well-
being of the dog. It can be fairly stressful to ride around in a box, so their comfort is important.
Other good hunting dog box supplies to get are those that help affix the dog box to the bed of a truck. If you are driving to the location in a truck, there probably won’t be any room for the dog in the cabin. Instead, you should strap the dog box into the bed of the truck. This will ensure that it doesn’t slide around or fly out. Again, this protects the well-being of your dog. You can also get hunting dog box supplies that hook it to a trailer that tails along behind your car. Not every hunter has the benefit of owning a truck. For those that use a car instead, a trailer hitch for the dog box is best. This is a much bumpier ride for the dog, so try to use this method only for short trips. This way the dog will still be up for hunting once you get there.
