THE COMMUNITY AT PRAYER (in unison)Gracious God, search our hearts.Root out the thoughts and plans

that draw us away from you.Forgive us, O God,

for clinging to the things of our lives;for holding onto our need for control;for denying the cross you would have us bear;for choosing paths that seem easier or saferwhen you call us to the path of discipleship.

Guide us back to you,and shape us in your image, that we may be your people–a people that bears the crosswith love and compassion.

Amen.

The Explorer’s Class - “Paul, Luther and Wesley: Our United Methodist Heritage” is the topic for the Explorer’s Class through next Sunday. Next Sunday’s focus will be on John Wesley, his conversion experience, and the Methodist emphasis on the doctrine of grace. Come and join us at 9:00 a.m. in the Adult Room.

The 10:30 Contemporary Issues Class will discuss “Why we need Heaven.” According to a recent poll, 76% of Americans believe in heaven and of these, 71% think it an “actual place.” However, after that, agreement about heaven breaks down. Visions of heaven divide people - even those who worship the same God. We will examine out diverse visions of heaven and why they matter.

Come to 50+ on Friday, Nov. 19th, at 12:00 noon in the Shalimar Country Club Restaurant. The Rev. Dr. Wilbur (Buzz) Stevens will present his research that asks if the middle brain is our source of love.
